Pros: McAvoy, Knightley, Ronan, Wright's detail and direction Cons: A final act that falters completely
A prepubescent and precocious girl witnesses words and actions of a sexual nature. She doesn't understand what she sees, and never asks for an explanation. As a result, she jumps to the wrong conclusion about someone she has known all her life, and that ...
"Atonement" has been showing around the country for several weeks. It finally arrived in Odessa, Texas this weekend. I knew that it had been nominated for more Golden Globe Awards than any other film. (although the writer's strike derailed the award ...
Pros: Acting, direction, screenplay. An adult entertainment of the finest order. Cons: That there aren't more first-run films of this caliber.
Early-on, the screen adaptation of Ian McEwan's celebrated novel "Atonement" has the look and feel of "Upstairs, Downstairs" and "Gosford Park" meet "Lady Chatterley's Lover." But worry not; there is nothing derivative in this ...
During the last few days I decided to try and see some of the films that were nominated for Oscars Best Picture. I first viewed Juno that I loved but do not find Oscar worthy. I also saw There Will Be Blood, a film that depressed me and as ...

Pros: that green dress Cons: not a first date movie .. a little slow at first
I just finished watching this film. It was just devastatingly beautiful. It all starts off in 1935 :It is a tale about two sister's , Cecilia and Briony Tallis. They are both in love with Robbie Turner, the Housekeeper's Brilliant son, who's ...
Pros: Acting, cinematography, storyline, and for those who care, it follows the book Cons: None
I saw Atonement in theaters almost immediately after its release because I found the novel of the same name, by Ian McEwan, to be both beautifully written and compelling. The movie's cinematography (for which it earned an Oscar nomination) perfectly matches the mood of the novel, and watching actors James McAvoy, Keira Knightley, and Saoirse Ronan interact onscreen makes the movie compelling and impossible to forget.
