Pros: Excellent voice talent; charming tone; Elfman's music Cons: It's not the book, but it can't help that! Ending overly didactic.
"Where's Papa going with that ax?" is a startling line in American literature. As the opening line in E.B. White's beloved childhood classic Charlotte's Web, it grabs you as soon as you open the book and compels you forward into the drama and ...
Pros: Great visual effects, nice adaptation of the story, voice acting (especially Buscemi and Cleese)... Cons: ... not much in it for adults though (apart from nostalgia), a bit too sugary
Charlottes Web is the story of a spider. Well, a spider and a pig actually. In fact, a spider, a pig, and a little girl. And some sheep. And cows, geese, and a horse. And, of course, a rat. When little piglet Wilbur is born he faces ...
Pros: Great story for young & old, all-star casting for animal voice overs Cons: Not much, but bring some tissues just in case
As a child, I absolutely loved E.B. Whites Charlottes Web. A classic childrens book, the characters were wonderfully developed and somehow the writing style made the premise of talking animals almost believable. The 2006 version ...
Pros: Dakota Fanning, and the cuteness factor Cons: underwhelming and dry style, ineffective narrative device, and misplaced soul and wit.
Growing up as a child, through class readings of the charm and inspired tale of a runt piglet, who finds a dear and courageous friend where they both capture the morality of forever friendship, and the filled affection of eternal memories, I was always ...
Pros: Thought provoking; visually appealing; keeps children entertained; isn't overly long Cons: A bit of crude humor here and there
First of all, I'd bet the most consistent gripe about this film is that it isn't as good as the book. That complaint should be discounted out of hand -- what movie adaptation of the book has ever been as good as the book? I can't think of a one, ...
Pros: Storyline, parables, message, production, voice-overs, actors, It's from EB White! Cons: Minor glitches, drags at times, animals fart in the barn
Charlotte and Her Creator Charlotte's Web was an enchanting book written by E.B white, a famous children's author who also penned other greats such as Stuart Little and Trumpet of the Swan . White had a style that ...
Pros: Will amuse the kids. Cons: Can't hold a candle to Babe.
Let me preface this review by saying that I am a child of the 70s, and as such was treated to the cartoon version of "Charlotte's Web" back when it was first released in 1973. Thus, I can't help but draw comparisons between what I see as the "original" ...
Pros: a gorgeous adaptation of a beloved classic Cons: a couple of brief coarse moments
There are books across the face of which our eyes flit for a few moments, the words dancing fleetingly into our psyches and drifting out again before the day is gone, leaving scarcely a trace of their presence. And then there are those that linger, ...
Pros: Great story, great acting, interesting characters (the rat is awesome!) 9/10 Cons: It's mostly about animals so I hope you like animals.
Touching, funny, just excellent. This movie is sad (very sad at some points), happy, funny, gross, light, heavy, and realistic all at the same time. Dakota Fanning == excellent, Julia Roberts, Cedric, Robert Redford just great. The characters in the movie grow and learn and change and that is what is so wonderful about this story... 9/10
Pros: all the elements that touched your heart as a reader of the book. Cons: movie theatre popcorn is pricey!
I would recommend this film for children able to stay through a movie and adults. When movies are made based on a beloved book, many of the audience only hope that the movie will live up to the favorite piece of literature. Charlotte's Web the movie did just that. The movie could not exactly follow the book to its every detail, which is very common, but the slight variations and differences made it endearing, sweet and memorable. I came out of the movie theatre feeling touched by the wonderful sentiment of the movie. The true elements of the book, like friendship, childhood wonders, change in circumstances have been preserved in the movie. The way the movie shows the friendship and love between the characters are poignant and touching. The actors, either visual or heard, did a wonderful job. The visual aspect was heartwarming and sweet. You really got that sense of comfort and unity visually in the film.
