Great Sound for a great price

by emedendorp , Aug 14 '02
Pros: Amazing Sound, Easy to install, Built in Firewire port
Cons: Needs two slots from the case if you want the MIDI/Joystick port
When I purchased my computer it was only able to come with the SB Live!. This was a good sound card, but I wanted more. My wife tells me that I'm one of those people who are never happy with my computer. Well I guess you could have said that before,...

by suemccartin Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Oct 10 '02
Pros: Great sound with 5.1 speakers, firewire port, supports most sound standards, works with windows XP
Cons: midi/game port separate, will block another card slot, utilities may be troublesome
I bought this card mostly out of curiosity. I had heard a lot of good things about the old Audigy sound cards and wanted to try one for myself. As has happened a lot in the past, Creative bought the company and discontinued making their products; thus...

Nice card but Creative apps never worked

by mgoto441 , Sep 26 '03
Pros: Good analog sound
Cons: Bad MIDI sound; Bad apps never completely worked; Installation was very tough
I just replace a Turtle Beach Montego II Quadzilla (an older card) with a Creative SB Audigy 1394. I didn't need the 1394 (my systemboard already has a 1394 port), but I had read that the sound quality was very good (only partly true as I'll mention late ...

by domino6713 , Aug 22 '02
Pros: Firewire support, surround sound
Cons: Compatibility problems, poor craftsmanship
Just so you know, I have a degree in computer science, and I am A+ certified so please don't think that a lack of technical skills has caused my problems.

I upgraded my computer in March of 2002 and since my old Turtle Beach sound card...

Best sound I've heard out of a computer.

by alakar , May 06 '02
Pros: Excellent sound quality, both digital and analog.
Cons: May require a fresh install of OS if upgrading from another SB card.
PURCHASE:
I bought an OEM version of the Sound Blaster Audigy after reading the great reviews and the specs (+100 db signal to noise ratio). The OEM version I bought is identical (same part number on the card) to the Gamer and MP3 versions except...

You might be sorry if you buy this product

by armyman , Jan 23 '03
Pros: Nice sound when it works.
Cons: Rarely works to specs.
Now I remember why I never buy Creative Labs products. You would think that a company as big as Creative Labs would be bullet proof, but don't be mislead. It is all coming back to me...the old days of fighting to get their products working correctly with...

SB Audigy, not worth the hassle

by ianc4262 , Jan 08 '02
Pros: Soundblaster name, firewire port, excellent spatial sound effects
Cons: Poor tech support, potential headache installation
I've owned a number of SB cards over the years and never had any issues. Creative are still the gold standard for soundcards but their recent two offerings SB Live and Audigy have presented many more hardware problems than I've come to expect from what...

by sackula , Jul 28 '02
Pros: Incredible Sound Quality and Software Bundle
Cons: Not free
I got the SB Audigy Gamer about 5 months ago due to the fact that my integrated sound card the VIA AC '97 was going crazy. The card was SIMPLE to install for me, just move the CD ROM audio cable and snap it in then install it. I have an MSI KT266Pro2...

Pros: 5.1 mixing using their ASIO drivers and excellent clarity in games and music
Cons: drivers can be buggy and unpredictable
Ok, this might be a little hard for most people to understand, but I will try my best to explain why I need this Audigy in my computer.

First of all, I play games and it accelerates games perfectly. The sound is clean, and precise in 4.1...

Get out the Raid, SoundBlaster Audigy is buggy!

Pros: Nice sound, environment effects are cool, Fire Wire port

Audigy Gamer-Not for prime time

by originalsnuffy , Mar 12 '02
Pros: Good sound, quiet. Has firewire port.
Cons: Poor XP compatibility. Problems with games and MP3 audio programs like musicmatch.
This is a high-end sound card aimed at the gaming enthusiast. It has some data paths that are 24 bit, though for the most part is should be regarded as a 16 bit card. It has on board connections for spdif, analog audio, auxiliary audio, and voice...

not bad, not stellar but very decent
by Rettman ,Oct 16 '03
Pros: pretty much what you read on the box - eax 24-bit/96khz. easy and fast installation.
Cons: midi/joystick connector too short, point-less extras up the price.
i wanted a card with dolby and eax support and this did so wonderfully right out of the box. didnt need the drivers to make it work or anything. the included programs are not even worth installing in my opinion, those can give you problems.
