The Nokia 3100 : One Sweet Little Candy Bar!

by AVaddict Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Sep 02 '04
Pros: Ease of use, GUI, look, feel, weight, versatility, cost, Nokia reputation and quality
Cons: Earpeice volume a wee bit low, shortish talk time
A Little Background The Nokia 3100 is a relatively new phone and is currently carried by Cingular wireless in the southwest market. Of course, AT&T could carry this phone as the two use the same network, but as AT&T will be Cingular come ...

Nokia 3100: I don't leave home without it!

by lonelywind , Apr 27 '05
Pros: Clear, well-lit display; functionality; size; ring volume; long battery life.
Cons: Call volume insufficient in noisy environments; alarm function quit working.
After switching to a new Cingular plan in October 2004, and having been talked out of a particular Sony Erickson phone by our Cingular representative, he suggested the Nokia 3100. My wife got this for me out of state, so I hadn’t seen the phone until I ...

Excellent basic mobile phone

by gr8fl , Mar 06 '05
Pros: Reception, clarity, small size, speakerphone, Nokia menu system
Cons: Mediocre display, limited features
The Nokia 3100 is a tri-band GSM/GPRS phone that is available in Canada through Fido, and in the US through Cingular. The 3100b version, which I have, operates on 850, 1800 and 1900 MHz. Thus it will only work overseas in countries that support 1800 ...

Cell Phone Rookie with a Nokia 3100

by bluestarmom , Sep 14 '04
Pros: weighs 3.5 ounces, lightweight, easy to use keys, equipped with AOL instant messaging
Cons: flat headset plug that comes off easily, volume too low for me
I am a cell phone rookie. In my job I am a Reservation Sales Agent, who is paid to be on the phone 40 hours a week, speaking with 75-130 passengers a day. I have never ever wanted a cell phone. Never say never. I wandered into Best Buy one day for no ...

Just a plain old Nokia...

by smirnoff16 , Sep 02 '04
Pros: Good speakerphone & reception, good battery lifetime
Cons: Ugly headset plug, not really an update
Nokia has recently released the 3100, a smaller and updated version of the popular 3595. As with many of Nokia's products, this cellular phone is aimed at the teenage crowd. So, what exactly does this phone have to offer more than any of its precedent ...

Very good budget phone, but don't expect to be WOWed

by mattmeitzner , Mar 14 '07
Pros: Great for basic features, good text messaging
Cons: No easy volume controls
I’ve been using the Nokia 3100 for two years now, since I switched to Cingular service. My first impression was that despite being a nice small phone, it had much better reception than my previous phone – although this was concurrent with my switchover ...

My first Nokia is a Winner!

by miabellamama , Apr 21 '05
Pros: Small Stylish Decent ringers vibrating alert Easy to change covers Looooong battery life
Cons: Hard to text message factory blue cover is ugly
After bad, no, tragic, experiances with LG, Samsung, Sony Ericson, and Motorola, I decided to give Nokia a shot, despite some rather bad things I'd heard from people a few years ago. My sister had discarded this phone in favor of a more snazzy flip phone ...

Nokia 3120 - Excellent Basic Phone
by gregship33 ,Dec 16 '06
Pros: Simple, small, great reception.
Cons: Very little - handsfree attatchment is weak.
Nokia 3120. I replaced my lousy Motorola V220 with this simple phone by just changing the SIM card. Excellent reception indoors and out. IM is good. I don't need/want a camera so that is not a need for me as this phone has no camera.

On the down side, there is no volume control on the headset so the volume is not adjustable. It is fine 95% of the time. The handsfree attatchment has very low earpiece volume is is not very useful.

Do not buy this phone
by dchiang ,Dec 05 '05
Pros: * Size
Cons: * Antenna
This phone has the worst antenna out of all Nokia phones. I am not able to receive service anywhere in the Cingular network (this is when all my peers have a signal). Highly recommend against buying this phone.

The Best Phone Ever!!!
by dfbradford05 ,Aug 16 '05
Pros: Menus are very well designed, speakerphone, great color screen, small, durable.
Cons: No camera, no music tones, only polyphonic ringtones.
I purchased this phone from Cingular about a month ago and it is the best phone I have ever used as far as durability and reception goes. It is really a basic phone that is very easy to use, the menus are very well setup and simple. The phone picks up a signal like no other and has signal when other phones don't. If you are looking for advanced features like a camera or mp3 player than this isn't you're phone, but if you want something that works and works well this may be the phone for you.

Great phone!
by milan123 ,Dec 19 '07
Pros: Small, compact, reliable phone. Nokia reputation and quality.
Cons: Minor GUI con: Automatic uppercase/lowercase change when typing reminders/messages can be sometimes annoying.
I've been using NOKIA 3100 since June 2004 on Rogers network in Canada, and had no problems with the phone whatsoever.
After 3.5 years battery still lasts 5-6 days in standby with low call usage. I use it for calls and calendar reminders, very rarely text messaging, no web browsing. Great for these basic purposes.

Awful Choice
by tony_flow ,Sep 20 '04
Pros: Some nice feature
Cons: Awful, awful, awful reception
This phone is very light and small which is a plus. However, the volume level is to low. If you are around a moderate amount of noise, don't expect to be able to hear the person who you are talking to. Also, the worst thing about this phone is the absolutely HORRIBLE. I previously used a Nokia 3390 and I was able to get reception inside of buildings. With this phone, whenever I went under a roof, I was in danger of losing signal. More often then not, it would drop down to 1 bar and it would cut out while talking to people. My brother has the 3595 and I am constantly having to borrow his phone (which gets perfect reception) to call people back. I am so unhappy with the 3100 that I switched back to my 4-5 year old 6290. Maybe it doesn't have all the features, but at least I don't have to sit outside my house to talk on the phone anymore.
