Having three children still at home means toys, books, and stuff. Lots and lots of stuff. Living in a small house, weve decided that we have to tackle the seemingly never-ending storage problem this winter. Being on a very tight and fixed budget,...
Pros: Works on a variety of surfaces, fast drying, Fairly priced Cons: None - worked great!
Somehow, I seem to find myself with a paintbrush or roller in my hand on more occasions than I care to. While I generally don't have the need to, when I do have to apply a primer coat, Zinsser Bullseye 123 Primer is usually the primer of choice. ...
Pros: Water based cleans up easily Cons: Nothing really, though I'm still drawn to the original with bad odor. Wierd, isn't it?
I have used a number of different primers over the years. I have always found Zinsser brand to be pretty darn good. The only slight problem with Zinnser's basic primer sealer is that it is an alcohol based product that does have an odor and takes a ...
Pros: It doesn't have the heavy odor of the regular type. Cons: Does not do a very good job.
Hi there,
Back to my SLUMLORD mode folks.
As many of my faithful readers know, I'm a professional "Slumlord". Part of the deal with this work is when you have an empty place it needs to be cleaned up. Depending on how long a...
Pros: Unbelievable adhesion, easy application, smell is tolerable Cons: Use B-I-N for nicotine & water stains.
Purchased a house with unbelievable amounts of nicotine stains particularly in the master bedroom. The ceiling was a cardboard brown color from the nicotine, and it used to be white! Also, there were water stains on the plaster. I bought a 5 gallon ...
Pros: transitions from painted wall to bare plaster walls well. Cons: stinks, can't cover dark wood stains in one coat, "beads" up with behr paints.
I bought a 2 family home with a sibling 2 years ago - never really bothered to change anything in the foyer or hallway - not even paint. Last year i decided that the ugly foyer and hallway needed to be freshened up and nothing like a fresh coat ...
1-2-3 Bulls eye stain blocker by catballyhoo ,Jan 27 '07
Pros: Found nothing to boast of here, only disappointment Cons: Best bet, oil based shellac stain blocker, if you want a job done right.
Doesn't come cheap and DOES NOT DO THE JOB! With Ceiling cleaned and prepped, 3 coats later and I can see more of the stains I'd hoped to cover than paint primer covering anything! Could not be more disappointed in a product, the cost factor, and especially, the wasted time spent applying many coats, all to no avail. Conclusion, for all the hard work put in on this tiny room, all of the enormous amount of hours, it remains much the same as when I began tackling this project. I could not be more dissatisfied with this product and the false advertising (as far as I am concerned)!
Sticks Like Glue, Kills Mildew Too by suricatta ,Oct 13 '04
Pros: Strength, ease of use, mildew-killing ability is excellent. Cons: Smell, small problem which goes away soon.
We desperately needed a mildew-killing primer for our bathroom.
We used Zinsser Bullseye 123 for priming, and painted the wall with Zinsser Zinc EverWhite paint.
There has been no mildew for 5 months, the first time this has ever happened.
The primer is very hardy, easy to put on, very thick. It does smell, but that seems to be because of the mildew killers put in to control mold. The smell goes away in a few days.
We also used the primer for our kid's bedroom, also mildew prone. They didn't like the smell but were even able to sleep there, with an open window. It's just about gone after 3-4 days.
I strongly recommend this primer if there is any mold problem in the area being painted.
