I have vanished from Epinions, again, for almost two weeks, again, and mainly this means that moving to a new home is strife and suffering and pain. That explains ten days of my absence: up through Wednesday evening, where I supervised a kindly young ...
I first discovered this program closing one night on my first week at Best Buy. It was my new job and naturally I was a bit quite. The doors closed for the evening and all that was left was to push back CDs in the aisle to make them look ...

Ok, not EVERY song and EVERY album are currently on the service, but with a current song total of 35,343 artists, 59,054 albums with a total of 742,951 tracks, I think I'll be busy for a while! The concept behind Rhapsody is quite simple. You pay a ...

I signed up for Rhapsody in July, hoping to expand my mp3 collection. The main advice I have if you are planning to use Rhapsody is: don't do it! First of all, yes you have access to many songs, but be aware that you pay $15 a month, and this only ...
Rhapsody is an excellent music service, with a few minor flaws that don't bring it down too much. It's got a very good selection of music, great sound quality, and it does not upload or download, but streams. The new 3.0 version of Rhapsody brings ...

Understand before you buy by ericg5331 ,Apr 06 '04
It's important that you understand how the Listen Rhapsody music service works. For $10 / month you get unlimited *streaming* music. This means that you are allowed to listen to your music on one computer at a time only. You may not burn any music onto a CD unless it has the burn icon next to it AND you pay the additional .79cents per track. At this time, you cannot transfer music to a MP3 player unless you burn the track, then rip it back to your computer in MP3 format.
Superior Value makes Itunes 99 cents and song seem expensive. by monk3yle3t ,Feb 17 '08
I purchased an Mp3 player for my girlfriend, and couldn't find a way short of illegal downloads to get her music without going broke. When I finally broke down and purchased the Rhapsody TO GO service I was skeptical, but the 14 day free trial convinced me. I'm paying 15 bucks a month for 40,000 + Albums, 4 million songs........every artist we both loved and UNLIMITED TRANSFERS TO MY MP3 player. Only thing this is missing is a Video Download service, and they would be providing my families Video entertainment as well. This service is a superior value......and is it really worth buying digital music, like on ITUNES that is intangible and My unlimited Transfers for 15 a month.......and pretty much all the same music. On top of that I pay ten percent less than Itunes when I do download.
Listen.com's Rhapsody is hands down the best pay/month, pay/song service on the planet! by tberte ,Nov 10 '03
Listen.com's Rhapsody, which I discovred via the easily the greatest store in all of the land...Best Buy, is hands down the best pay/month, pay/song service on the planet. I've heard Napster come out of the gate very strong, but I have no reason to switch. Rhapsody has it's flaws, but for a legal, speedy, reliable digital music service, Rhapsody is the way to go.
-Pros
Reliable, High Quality Music, 400,000+ songs, Free Software, Free Updates. Only $10/month and 79 cents per song for CD burning.
-Cons
As of right now, some music is unavailable, but the future could be different when negotiations come down. Realistically must have a high speed internet connection and must have an internet connection play music.
Either unethical or profoundly incompetent business practices by caveat999 ,Apr 07 '09
I just cancelled a credit card to get rid of my RealArcade and Superpass subscriptions. I somehow ended up signed up for them when I signed up for Rhapsody, and every time I called to cancel, was told that they couldn't find the account. They sure could find it when it came time to bill me, though.
I liked the music service fine. The software is a little clunky, and Real has a nasty way of pretending to have rights to things they don't, but I would still be subscribing if it weren't for RealArcade and Superpass. However, it is not tolerable that I be made to pay for things I didn't order and can't cancel.
Proprietary Technology - Bad Idea by krisludington ,Oct 16 '04
Couldn't figure out what I was getting without signing up. The sign up process tried to force software down my throat, so I bailed. Turns out you have to call in to cancel. Only then did I learn that it's a completely proprietary technology. You have to use their software to listen to it. It's not MP3. Forget it.
Great sound, great selection!! Lots of new music to explore!! by springhill19 ,Aug 21 '04
Recently compared this service to Napster and MusicMatch. I have a very keen ear and I can tell you that Napster is noticeably lower quality, and MusicMatch is close, but Rhapsody's streaming audio is the best quality of the three.
I have been very happy with the catalog, and am really enjoying having unlimited access to thousands of tunes. The player is very easy to use and provides lots of helpful information. One of the nice features is that you can see each artist's complete discography - even if they are not all in the Rhapsody catalog.
Features like the genre browser, most popular artist list, and artist sampler really help you discover new music. The search tool is great too. Now, when I hear of a new band I just look them up, learn all about them and listen to their sampler - or complete albums! Its great! I think I will keep this service!
A service made for music lovers by gwisk55 ,May 21 '05
If you enjoy listening to music, have high-speed Internet, and can afford $10/mo, I highly recommend Rhasody to you. They don't have all the artists (due to contratural limitations/legal gobbledygoop), but if they have an artist, they usually have their entire library, and a "page" listing their releases and linking to them, a sampler of their more popular songs, a picture and sometimes a short bio, and a list of similar artists(contemporaries, influences, followers) to browse while listening.
I don't know how their customer service is, as I haven't had to use it, and I really don't anticipate terminating this service in the foreseeable future, so I can't really comment on that aspect of the service.
terrible - very difficult to cancel by eksplorer ,Nov 12 '04
I signed up for rhapsody but did not get a chance to use it much and decided to cancel in their two week trial period. Let me warn you... they make it very difficult to cancel. You can not cancel through their website. Instead you have to call and 800 number where I had to wait on hold for about 15 minutes. Even after I spoke to someone and canceled my account they continued to bill me. It took several more attempts to call them before I finally got someone to cancel my account and refund my money.
I would not do business with Real or Rhapsody. by oneangelsmommy ,Sep 17 '07
This is an EXTREMELY DIFFICULT site to use. Upon using the trial period monthly charges continued. Rhapsody's counterpart Real also decided to jump on my credit card and add charges. They then refused to issue a complete credit. The time limits of using your money to download music you paid for is ridiculous.
I am a subscriber to Rhapsody service since 2003 and I've never thought about canceling it. Imagine- all the music you can think of, every genre there is, everything just a touch of a button away for less than $10! Because of it, my CD buying has seriously decreased and I've even saved money.
But be aware- it is a streaming service (no MP3 downloading, sorry!) and they make you download their program. Broadband is a must! And for the better experience, connect you computer to your stereo or get some quality speakers.
Excellent service, highly recommended by ottofunk9 ,Apr 08 '05
Rhapsody is great for discovering new music and expanding your musical horizons. I have been incredibly satisfied with my experience over the last year and a half as a paying subscriber.
Sound quality is excellent. Selection is excellent. Editorial content is excellent.
Waiting for the version that supports mobile mp3 players...soon to come (or so I here)
Rhapsody To Go trial membership not what it appears by trp5 ,Mar 09 '07
I've been reading reviews about Rhapsody at various sites on the web, and it strikes me that a distinction needs to be drawn between the experiences of those who are long-term users and those who were given a trial subscription with their purchase of a Sansa player. Of course long-term users are going to be generally satisfied, because Rhapsody has a comprehensive music selection and is easy to use, not to mention the fact that in general these users have not had to go through the (appalling) process of cancelling their service. For people who were simply given the trial membership, however, several things were not made clear by the company beforehand: 1) you cannot download music but can only stream it, so you cannot keep the songs you pay to use on your player, 2) for most customer service representatives, English is a second language, and 3) almost without fail, your credit card will be charged with the monthly fee even if you cancel well in advance of the deadline for the free trial. For those of you who receive Rhapsody To Go trial memberships with your Sansa player, please be warned.
I could not burn purchased track even tho the software indicated I could. Basically DRM gone bad. The library was good and connections worked ok but forget about buying anything through the service.
rhapsody's cancellation requirements are dishonest & borderline thievery-corporate 206-674-2700 by stacia8 ,Jan 11 '09
HI everybody out there who's been charged by rhapsody service every quarter w/o ever downloading a single song. last march i signed up for "free trial" on internet, tried to download a song following instructions and no success, so i cancelled. i thought. tricky rhapsody requires you to call a number (at least it's toll free 1-866-563-6157) to call and cancel; i was billed four times (once every three months) 34.99 for unlimited service that i NEVER USED. yes, i am an idiot. and rhapsody has effectively stolen $105 dollars from me for nothing (they did/or are going to refund the last $35 charge, however). after getting the number for rhapsody corporate from the call center supervisor, i thought: wouldn't it be nice to list it here? so here it is 206-674-2700; i am assuming that it operates m-f 8am-5pm PST. i wonder what i'll find when i call it? wouldn't it be nice if i contacted the better business bureau about it, and so did everyone else that's been ripped off by rhapsody via tricky cancellation requirements? class action suite, anyone?
NOT "Play For Sure" compatible- here's $14.95 of free information! by oregonroger ,Dec 30 '06
This is for those who are looking to download songs to their mp3 players using the "ToGo" Rhapsody service.
Rhapsody advertises that they are "Play For Sure" compatible. They also list off the players that are compatible with their "ToGo" service.
DO NOT BELIEVE the "Play For Sure" compatible claim, as they are NOT. DO believe their list of players. This piece of knowledge cost me $14.95. It's yours for free.
