by pavona21 , Jan 21 '03
Pros: -Classic Sim City Gameplay, Upgraded Graphics, Reply Value
Cons: -No Scenarios, Buggy at times, Online Play not ready.
The Word "Sim" Is Gold
Now, in no way do I consider myself the common, hardcore PC gamer. When push comes to shove, I like my sports, platformers, and dare I say, even my First Person shooters on my consoles. But, there's something about...

A foreward: I'm writing this review for both crowds who have never played a Sim City title in their life, and for those who have been there since day one.

For Sim City newbies:

More of a Basically Good Thing

by Nightshade_01 , Jan 15 '03
Pros: Nice graphics, cool music, more detail, tried and true mechanics
Cons: Frustrating at times, not much new here, crash-prone
OK, I admit it. I'm a Sim City junkie. Ever since Will Wright designed the first one back in 1990 (has it REALLY been that long?!) I've been basically hooked. For those of you living under a rock for the past 13 years, the goal of Sim City has been...

Let Me Loose On Your City

by ginnyj2002 , Sep 15 '03
Pros: Great gameplay, ongoing, can import your sims from the sims, you have total control.
Cons: Can be a bit complex in the beginning.
Having never played any of the SimCity games before, I wasn’t sure how I would get on with SimCity four. I am a huge Sim fan though and I love Role-playing games so my boyfriend bought me this for my birthday in June. I read through the book and though ...

It's different, not impossible.

by benpatient , Dec 11 '03
Pros: Finally a fresh approach to city building, great graphics, import your sims
Cons: all cons are fixed with the "Deluxe" package that includes the Rush Hour addition.
I loved SimCity. It created (and set the standard for) city-building simulations. I loved SimCity 2000. It added a level of complexity and scope that was welcome and engaging. They were both excellent games, and they represented the old Maxis very, very ...

Maxis have sold out and ruined a once-great franchise.

by chrisell Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Feb 06 '03
Pros: Great graphics, terraforming tools, day/night and disasters.
Cons: Buggy, slow, far too difficult to get in to compared to previous versions.
You can tell after a couple of hours of trying to play SimCity4 that Maxis have signed a deal with the devil, and sold out to the mighty EA. Gone is the polished, bug-free, enjoyable gameplay and great performance of previous SimCity titles. In comes the...

Well, this is my first review for 2003, and let me say I couldn't have picked a better item to write it on. SimCity 4 is excellent. The nice...

by knotheadusc Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jun 22 '03
Pros: Very cool graphics and sounds
Cons: Took awhile to figure out, hard- but get Rush Hour and that will go away.
I bought Sim City 4 back in March because I thought it looked like a cool way to break in my brand new computer. I took it home and booted it up, and immediately marveled at the awesome graphics and music. It loaded quickly and easily and I had no troub ...

by kansasjman , Mar 23 '03
Pros: Seriously improved terraforming tools.

Pros: Incredibly detailed. decent graphics
Cons: VERY BUGGY. Too slow to be really pleasant. inadequate feedback in UI no undo key.
About SimCity. Its an interesting concept. A real time strategy game without any fighting. The premise is that you are the mayor of a new city. You decide the shape and size of the city. You zone areas for certain uses and you build basic...
