Ordered a birthday gift for my girlfriend from Thaigem.com. It arrived on schedule, customer service helped me customize the ring, and I got the ring I was promised. Great value (even after the customs charge) and she loves it.

I would never order from Thai Gem again. I ordered two stones. Both were misrepresented. One was described as "top crystal," when it had significant inclusions. The other was described as cornflower blue, and it was almost colorless. I suspect that the photos I saw on the site were not photos of the stones I received.

I sent the stones back in one FedEx envelope, but they automatically charged me for two. They kept $63 of my money, out of a total of about $600. It is my opinion that they are an unethical merchant. Ethical merchants will pay for the return when the merchandise they shipped was flawed.

When you start the return process, you will be amazed at the instructions. They are clear, but complex. Make sure you follow them to the letter--or else you risk losing your entire investment.

Update: Four days ago, I wrote Thai Gem customer service to ask why I was charged for two FedEx return envelopes rather than one. They have still not answered. Earlier e-mails to them were answered overnight, so at this point it appears that they plan to ignore me.

I have ordered from them in the past and the stones I have received where just as pictured and very nice facets. I ordered some rainbow labriodite(crystal clear with rainbow spots) very hard to find, mostly in museums, and it was just as rated.
The other were some very nice rubys(pigeon blood red), I ordered 10 of them all where over .75 points to 1 crt. in size and top gem quality just as stated . It helps to know which stones are heavily included no matter what you get. My last order was alexandrite from russia. They were 2.5 mm and 3.0mm in size I ordered 4 of each they all matched up nicely. I will order from them again with no qualms and look forward to adding to my gem inventory through them.

I started making purchases last year and made 13 within just a few months. Then I introduced my mom and daughter well my daughter made a purchase and her credit card was invalid so thiagem put her bill on my mothers credit card to make along story short; I helped my mother to get refunded so now thiagem want allow me to make any purchases so if that is the kind of business they operate just keep an eye on your payments and don't help anyone buy anything from there. This is one of the first websites I bought loose gems from. The first 2 orders were wonderful. The third order was very represented. The gem was described as 'eye clean' but when I received it, there was a huge scatch on the backside of the gem. They offered to refund my money but I would have to pay shipping each way ($15 EACH WAY) so it wasn't even worth it to return the gem.
Obviously I say BUYER BEWARE and steer clear of this site.
