Worth what I paid for it...Of course, it was free...

by basilisk4 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Sep 12 '00
Pros: Cheap, performs basic functions well
Cons: No frills whatsoever
Like the average computer user, I don't do a whole lot of teleconferencing or anything like that, so I don't have a whole lot of use for a PC camera. My father had a spare one that he had gotten for free with his new IBM laptop, however, and he asked me...

Yes, a Webcam! Show Us Your Tits!

by emptywishes Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jul 06 '01
Pros: it's a webcam (and a darn affordable one at that).
Cons: comes with useless software.
Yeah, my website gets no hits. Right now I don't really mind too much (I haven't been updating all that regularly and have began to work on a redesign recently), but there was a time where I was updating every day and getting no hits to show for it! So...

Smile for the Camera!!

by DLiss97120 , May 12 '00
Pros: Takes great images
Cons: does not work with all video conferencing programs
I got my IBM PC Camera about 5 or 6 months ago. To install it I had to go to their web site http://www.xirlink.com/ibmpccamea to download the software I needed. You do get a CD with the software on it, but it is only for systems running Windows 98...

Great Little Web Camera

by suzig Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, May 21 '00
Pros: easy to install, small, good quality pictures
Cons: none
If I can install and run this little PC cam, then believe me, anyone can!
I have had this cam, called C-IT, made by IBM, for xirlink, for over a year now. I absolutely love it! It is small enough to sit on top of your monitor facing you, or you...

Poor vision, dangerous software

by TDC , Dec 07 '00
Pros: Quick delivery, inexpensive, simple to install
Cons: Poor image, poor color, poor focus, and dangerous uninstall of software.
We got what we paid for, a cheap camera and something we didn't, dangerous software.

Background: We have a large family (7 children in 5 cities and 13 grandchildren). Video conferencing offers some real advantages as we are stretched from...

Save yourself some cash. Don't purchase!

by _fate_ , Dec 04 '00
Pros: Decent software and drivers, captures decent still images during the daytime at close range.
Cons: Doesn't function as well at distances or at night time, the camera is only plugged by USB at one end, it is basically a waste of money.
Review: IBM PC Camera

I had always wanted to do teleconferencing, or set up a camera on my computer so that I could create a webpage and have the page update itself with pictures of me taken every so often so that my friends could see....

IBM PC Camera -- good for videoconferencing and not much more.

by kurt_g , Dec 30 '01
Pros: Easy to use and set up, USB connection, software CD has a lot of stuff
Cons: Only functions well as a videoconferencing device
For Christmas of 2000, my mother gave me the IBM PC Camera. My stepfather, who is a techie like myself, had recommended it. It wasn't totally an altruistic gift. It was intended so that we could use videoconferencing so that she would be able to...

Low-priced and reasonable

by leetucker1 , Jul 23 '00
Pros: Good for videoconferencing
Cons: Limited uses, not always people to VC with
This camera is not great or superb, nor is it horrible. It is good at what it does, but there's nothing that makes it stand out from the crowd. Ultimately, if you want an inexpensive camera for stills or videoconferencing, this will work just fine....

Pretty simple: it's bad

by Dearmad , Jan 20 '01
Pros: Price
Cons: Picture quality, software
There's no excuse for this bad a PC camera to so successful in the market except maybe that it's so cheap. In my case it was free, but...

The Hidden Cost
The software it comes with is wicked and must be installed in a precise...

Great Basic Camera

by pravinrao , Jun 22 '00
Pros: Clear picture, easy use.
Cons: Not for advanced use
The IBM PC camera is seemingly the most basic of basic cameras, but it does a great job at its functions:

GOOD THINGS ABOUT CAMERA:

Installation was incredibly easy. The camera plugs in to a USB jack on your computer. With windows...

Okay for chat room lurkers

by hey_melanie , Sep 12 '01
Pros: Low price - suitable for basic "show me what you look like" application
Cons: Many software bugs - quick to shut a computer down
This cam was an impulse purchase for me, thought it might be a nice toy to have. I was wrong.

The instructions which accompanied the cam were vague (at best) and very brief. On many issues the user is left to "figure it out for himself,"...

Not Bad, But I Expected Better

by bobilou , Aug 10 '00
Pros: Easy to setup. Made for the beginner.
Cons: Grainy and constantly out of focus.
I work in an office supply store which allowed me to ponder for several weeks the PC Camera I wished to purchase. After consulting other employees and comparing the other cameras in my target price range I finally decided on an IBM PC Camera.

Once again I got suckered

by grimace98 , Jul 12 '00
Pros: software doesn't take much space, ease of installation
Cons: picture quality, video quality, video editing, video format (see review)
Requirements (from the box): Windows 98 or Windows 2000, a USB-ready PC, a 166MHz Pentium processor or greater, 16MB of RAM and 8MB of hard drive space. For some reason it also says that this camera requires an "Internet ready PC". I don't...

Say Cheese!

by JoeCool449 , Jun 07 '00
Pros: great quality, easy to use
Cons: price, teleconferencing is very, very hard to get to work
This is a quick and snappy review of the IBM PC Camera. I have included only important details. If you would like me to elaborate on anything, just make a comment about it below, and I will try to answer your question. When I received this little camera...

Not Worth Your Money

by Cornell2000 , Aug 23 '00
Pros: cheap, easy set up
Cons: poor quality, not a good value
While this product does what its advertising indicates, it is not really that useful because there are many superior cameras available now. I think the image quality is OK, but often times there are a lot of little dots that make the image look like it...
