by yakkowarner Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Aug 19 '04
Pros: Customizable, works on every vehicle.
Cons: Not as secure as I would like, can fall apart in storage.

Pros: strong, bulletproof, worry free, theft-proof, won't scratch paint
Cons: not exactly cheap, but well worth the money after you've had it for a while
Bought my Yakima rack several years ago for my Honda Accord so I could carry my Kayak and bikes on. I can't say enough good things about this rack. It will hold bikes, kayak, ladders, etc on the car doing 80-90mph without ever loosening up 1 bit. You c ...

by justinsmith , Oct 27 '00
Pros: Hurricane force winds won't rip your bikes off your car, once adjusted they go on quickly, makes your subcompact car a versatile utility vehicle
Cons: A pain when first installing.
I got a Yakima rack to get mine and my wife's bikes from Minnesota to Washington State. I had a Honda Civic, so the Q tower was my only option for a roof rack. It was the best accessory for that car I ever bought.

At first it was a pain to...

Before I got the Yakima Q Tower roof rack system for my 1999 Toyota Corolla, I folded down my rear seat and stuck my skis in the trunk. The problem is that then there is only room for one person in the back seat, the skis take up space in the trunk, and...

Cons: Requires more patience and time to install than initially expected. Pricey compared to Rocky Mounts.
I installed Q Towers, bars and 2 steelhead tray mounts per instructions to the roof of my Volvo station wagon. I tightened the Q clips not too tight, not too loose, but Goldilocks right, per instructions. For a few months this held my bikes securely....

Pros: No pros
Cons: No support for older models. Hard to install and set up.
I bought a Yakima rack system for skiis, bike, and windsurfing board in 1993. It was expensive but I figured it would be a one-time expense and when I bought a new car I would just need to get new clips for the car.

Well, I saddend to find...
