Leasing Explained Finally...
by LVS_Engineer | Mar 16 '00
Auto leasing results in some car buyers getting a better deal overall, most car buyers getting a far worse deal overall but paying less per month, and car dealerships selling more cars and making more money per leased car. Leasing adds a new level of...

Advice from the "Leasing" guy to the engineer. (Reply to this comment)

You explained the formula for leasing, something those of us in the car industry don't even need to know, thats why we use computers. However, the consumer can use common sense to figure out if they are getting a good lease.
Leasing~Little to no money down
Considerably lower payment in most
cases
A new car every two or three years

People can get taken badly on a lease, if they don't use common sense. Overall, leasing will phase out conventional financing in the next 10 years. It's a good thing!

"Confusion" speaks volumes (Reply to this comment)

This article may have confused the hell out of uneducated people about leasing, but I think that is the point. Leasing IS confusing. There are so many terms, smoke, mirrors and gotchas. If you aren't up to understanding the myriad dimensions of leasing, purchase a car. If you can afford to purchase a new car, buy a late used model.

If you or anyone else has any specific questions, feel free to email me...

You have some good points but overall I think you have confused the *#!* out of the people who are uneducated about leasing. It does not have to be that confusing. Being married to a man who has been in the "business" for the last 20 years and selling Ford's myself at one time I'd have to say leasing is a very good thing these days with the outrageous car pricing. Check out my review on Leasing. :)
P.S. Good choice on your truck <wink>
