I Would Recommend This Truck

by xorcet , Jul 23 '04
Pros: Great performance, good value, and a decent all around truck.
Cons: Suspension is a little stiff, larger powerplant means less fuel efficiency.
PURCHASE I purchased a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport at online auction in 2002. I paid $14,200 at the time and this was a fair share beneath the Bluebook appraisal. The condition of the vehicle was excellent and there were 9,350 miles on it. You can find ...

Explorer Sport

by socerguy18 , Jul 11 '01
Pros: Nice car. Many options.
Cons: Not much room for sitting in the back.
Overall this is a nice car. Whether you lease or buy it, you have many opitions options. It has a nice comfortable ride and is very roomy in the front seats. The back seat dosen't have much leg room, which is understandable though. If you want the...

2001 fod explorer highly recomended

by jamfxy9 , Sep 08 '00
Pros: safety, and looks
Cons: not a family car
My job requires me to drive long distances, in a general week I sometimes put 1000-2000 miles on my car. I needed a dependable and comfortable car to drive to my destinations, and my 2001 explorer fills the order. I am very small and most of the other...

Why You will like this car

by Caliguy143 , Jul 21 '00
Pros: steering, quiet, powerful
Cons: brakes, top heavy, fuel economy
The new Explorer sport is an all around great vehicle. The only drawbacks are the low gas mileage and the poor braking. If you jump on the brakes, the ABS usually has to kick in to keep you from going into a skid. Being up high provides great...

I wish I could recommend it...

by jbw929 , May 11 '02
Pros: Good Acceleration, Great Audiophile Stereo, Great A/c
Cons: Terrifying handling, punishing ride, poor paint, awful MPG
I leased my 2001 Explorer Sport in 2/01, to replace a lemon-lawed Ranger. I should have driven it longer during the test drive. The handling is atrocious, giving the feeling that you will bounce (yes, bounce) off of the road at any time. The...

2001 Explorer ROCKS!

by pdhollrahca , May 12 '00
Pros: Great redesign
Cons: hatch door
I bought my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport the beginning of April. All I can say is it really does rock. I have been a jeep person for the past 6 years. I never thought I would want anything else in an SUV. I bought the Explorer Sport because I live in the...

Explorer Sport Trac-ready for anything

by johnfpaul , Jul 06 '00
Pros: multi purpose
Cons: not quite a truck
The Sport Trac is not quite a pick-up truck not quite a SUV. The real question is it a 4 door Ranger or a open back Explorer? Down the road the the 6 cylinder engine delivers decent power under all conditions. The four wheel drive system should keep most...

A good reliable SUV.

by artistek , Apr 30 '03
Pros: Solid vehicle, has not left me walking.
Cons: Leaky windows, electrical problem.
I currently have 30,000 miles on my 2001 Explorer Sport. I love the ride, and general comfort of it. Drove it through some bad snow storms in Maine, and some thick mud in Vermont. My explorer never left me walking. I have grown a list of complaints. The ...

Great small SUV
by dkearby1982 ,Feb 17 '04
Pros: Sleek, attractive, fast, nice features.
Cons: small backseat. 2-door
I bought a 2001 Ford Explorer in April of 2003. Paid $15,200 for it. Now almost a year later and have had a few problems but am happy with my truck.

Bought the SUV in April of `03. I loved it at first. My first SUV. Black, sunroof, 6-disc changer, thermometer, cumpus, etc. But I realized it was a bit small. Especially the back seat. Also, with the 2-door it is hard to get in and out of.

It can be a bit of a bumpy ride, but that is true for all SUVs.

January, I had to have the power steering rod replaced at 60,000 miles. No big deal, bought the extended warranty.

Overall, I will say I am happy with my car. I will trade it in soon because I have put almost 20k on it in a year.

JUNK JUNK JUNK
by asujames ,Jun 12 '04
Pros: It moves and I do not have to walk.
Cons: Bad ride, bumpy, air vents broke two months after purchase, brakes are horrible.
I purchased my ford explorer sport back in 2000 and that certainly will be the last Ford purchase for life. The truck has been nothing but a headache for me. Sensor lights are constantly coming on, hatchback will not open--door handle broke, and I have been through way too many brake jobs to even consider buying another poorly made product from Ford!!

I LOVE THIS THING
by harvey165 ,Sep 13 '04
Pros: Great power, comfortable, reliable.
Cons: None, it's a Ford baby!
I recently bought my 2001 Explorer Sport 4x4 with 27,500 miles. I have always had Rangers and Mustangs before but thought it was time to buy something more practical and with 4 wheel drive for the winter.

Right after I bought the Explorer I took a 1200 mile trip to New Jersey. The Gas mileage was similar to my 4 cylinder Ranger. I am very happy with the power of the 4.0 V-6. The engine is bullet proof. The transmission is a little to soft for my tastes but a aftermarket chip will fix that.

The Explorer sport has great room for a two door SUV and the front seats were very comfortable. This is the first car I've owned were my butt didn't go to sleep on a long trip.

This thing just looks good inside and out and runs great. I would recommend it to everyone. In fact my Fiance` is looking to buy one too.
