Pros: Oddly stylish, Base price, Large interior. Cons: Acceleration, Cost of accessories, No sunroof option, Auto tranny lacks autostick.
When you visualize a boxy looking automobile many vehicles of the past probably come to mind, perhaps those older Volvo wagons or even the late Ford LTD, but what about a post millennium vehicle? In the latter part of 2002 the Honda Element turned more ...

Pros: Value, value, value, interior space that defies several laws of physics. Cons: Options can get pricey, Cruise Control not available everywhere.
I remember, last year, seeing the Scion xB featured in an import car magazine. The vehicle looked strange, boxy, silly, and, well, UGLY. Why, I thought, would anyone buy this, or even build it? Fast forward to 2 months ago, when I noticed a new Scion ...

Pros: Huge interior space with a tiny footprint and great mileage Cons: The styling won't be for everyone, to say the least
Being a Gen-Xer, the xB has been my first new-car purchase ever. I've had it only a little over a week, but I can say this is one of the best decisions I've ever made. I bought the xB for four main reasons, in order of importance to me: 1. Fuel ...
Pros: High reliability predicted. Great gas mileage. Fantastic base package. Amazing passenger room. Short overall length. Cons: Cheap interior material feel.
The Scion XB is a roomy crossbreed van/wagon/truck thing but is classified as a small wagon which suits insurance companies fine. Scion is a subsidiary of Toyota. The XB shares the same engine as the Toyota Echo and most parts are labeled with ...
Pros: Toyota quality and engineering. No hassle pricing. Funky look. Cons: No center armrest for driver. Waiting for the aftermarket to offer one.
I just purchased a Scion XB with an automatic transmission. After several test drives in this vehicle as well as other makes/models, my conclusion was that this is the best car for the money. I have always owned and sworn by Toyota cars/trucks (my wife ...
Pros: Lots of legroom, great gas mileage, unmatched looks, Toyota reliability. Cons: Some dealers are HORRIBLE thieves! Not much hip-room, interior styling could use some work.
Scion - The world's best car - The world's sleaziest dealers! Hmmm... a little over the top? Perhaps... But after almost 6 months of owning this car, I still have little to complain about.... except for my car dealer. However, I won't ...
Pros: Fuel economy, small on the outside, big on the inside, looks cool Cons: A bit slow to accelerate
I can't understand why there aren't more of these on the road. Most people are probably afraid to take a chance on a different looking car. I'm not and I'm glad I did! I bought this car without any options except a dealer-installed roof rack. It came ...
Pros: iconoclastic styling; capacious, functional interior; fuel efficiency; quiet ride, fine sound system; conversation starter
Cons: iconoclastic styling; leisurely acceleration with automatic; leisurely braking; driver's seat lower back/thigh support
June 2004 I've lived with my '04 Scion xB for a month now, and am nearing the 3,000 service interval. Fuel economy with the automatic tranny (and a/c cranked) has climbed from 27 mpg to 30 mpg in mixed city and highway driving. I've already repaired ...

I recently purchased a Scion XB (by toyota) I wanted something to replace my old & tired 1991 Chevy Sports van. It need to be roomy, as you get spoiled with all the room in a full sized van & unlike a 3/4 ton van, it needed to be fuel efficient. it also ...

I've had my 2005 xB automatic for about a month, after a 3 month wait to get it. Being a practical, 6'1" tall 40-ish male that doesn't fit in every car, the extraordinary interior space, great fuel economy and Toyota quality rep are what attracted me, ...

I bought this car for the mileage and I'm impressed. If you stay 65 or under its even more impressive: 5-6 gallons for NY-PHIL trip. Interior is very roomy. I replaced an SUV and don't miss it. If you want luxury this is not the car for you. It is a ...

New Car for 16 yr old Daughter by jimbenton ,Jul 27 '04
Pros: Light steering. ABS Brakes. Great Stereo. Low price. Cons: Need more light near the front of cab.
I looked at a lot of cars trying to find a vehicle that was safe and easy to drive for an unexperienced driver.
The Scion was a great pick because the dash pod is near the windshield so she doesnt have to take her eyes off the road to look between the steering wheel. The windows are large all the way around so visibility is great.
The seat sits up straight and is very comfortable compared to cars with a seat position that is more lying down than sitting.
The controls are easy to see and adjust. The air is cold, something that I read that was not true. I own a late model corvette and I enjoy driving this car much more.
SCION xB Impressive beautiful ugly little car? by scottonium ,Jun 11 '04
Pros: Unique style, body fit and finish, economy, spunky, and ROOMY. Cons: Road noise
I would have never expected to be driving a hot lava 1500cc shoe box, however, I am. This unique little auto has everything I wanted in an inexpensive, solid, reliable, economical, urban commuter. The rising cost fuel motivated this 40 something professional male to trade a heavy SUV for the most practical auto I've ever owned. I would not be surprised if a trend such as mine evolves. SCION has delivered on its promise and exceeded my expectation for a small urban commuter.

Pros: Huge interior space, catchy styling, standard everything. Cons: Stiff ride, Fuel mileage, Noisy interior at freeway speeds.
I absolutely love this little car, when I first purchased it there where few on the road, and people would look at me as if I were in a space ship. I had originally intended on buying another Toyota car, but when I sat in the XB in show room I couldn't fill out the purchase agreement fast enough. I was highly attracted to the interior space and the seating position and overall layout. I have loaded a complete dinette set in the back to the amazement of the sales person. I could not find a car in this price rage with the level of standard features this car has. On the down side I am disappointed with the fuel mileage 25 MPG Average And the severely stiff ride. I am in my mid thirties and recovering from a severe back injury so the ride was a big complaint, I had a full air ride suspension installed and now it rides like a Cadillac.
Pros: Roomy but small, economical, so-o-o stylin' and love to drive my xB Cons: Need front seat armrests, cruse control, more hp and more inside lighting
Love the head turning looks! Fun ride, good gas mileage, roomy inside this box, easy to maneuver due to its compact size, great standard extras, and love that style.
Pros: Toyota made, price, head & leg room, tons of aftermarket accessories Cons: hubcaps, no sunroof option, booms if you hit bumps, windy days & xB = no-no
I have to admit the xB is pretty ugly, but it's ugliness is kinda cute. I either had to get an xB or have nothing at all because my dad wasn't going to buy me an Audi TT or VW Beetle which I had originally hoped. He has a stigma against German cars. I couldn't complain. I got the xB for free so not much I could say. Anyways for the price of the thing, you get some pretty good features.
