Pros: Safety, interior volume, ride quality, third row available Cons: Handles like an SUV, unrefined engine noises, non-linear power delivery, rear visibility, third row cramped
The Volvo brand is more closely associated with safety than any other. Many people buy SUVs because they are perceived as safe. It seems a natural fit. Yet Volvo did not get a true SUV to market until 2003. (The station wagon-based XC70 doesnt ...
Pros: Safe, safe, safe. Feels solid. Nice looking. Reasonable to own vs. other SUVs. Cons: A bit truck like in the ride. Don't like the position of the seat recliner.
I still love the car. I cannot say enough good things about it. I love the service and enjoy driving it around. The ride is a bit truck-like in a sense, which I am not 100% thrilled about it but I find it acceptable. One of the main reasons I am ...
Pros: Safety, interior volume, third row, did I mention safety Cons: Not worth talking about.
This review is from someone who actually owns one, and not from a test driver. We own and drive a 2004 Volvo XC90 T5 AWD with Climate and Versatility packages. People buy Volvos for safety, and Volvo has made some breakthroughs with this vehicle. I tell e ...
Pros: This car's safety features, performance, fit and finish is fantastic - above and beyond all expectations. Cons: Could use a couple more inches of leg room in the 3rd row seats.
It has safety, for its driver, occupants and those around it on its mind first and foremost but the XC90 has the same class and style of even the finest piece of automobile engineering. A car designed for real world driving. Performance: This ...
I bought a 2004 Volvo XC90 T6 2.9L AWD with options. I didn't get the 7 seater due to the lack of leg room but the 5 seater is good enough for me. The leather seats are very comfortable with automatic adjustments. The problem with driving the volvo is ...
Pros: styling, safety, solid construction Cons: everything else
I've had my XC90 T6 for 4 mths now. Things I hate about the truck: 1. Very little storage space in the centre console; 2. Front dash is very boring (compared to the BMW X5); 3. Seats aren't very comfortable, lack of adjustable headrest; 4. The ...
Pros: Style Cons: Poor reliability
Gas mileage
Dealer Service
Electrical Problems
I've purchased the XC90 for my wife when she was 5 months pregnant. She was driving a 2002 ML320 and did not like the steering and a truck like feel. We should have kept it. We purchased the XC 90 (2005) about 30 days ago in Pasadena, CA and it has ...
Pros: Ride, safety, handling, quiet ride, space! Cons: Gas mileage.
We got this car last July (July 2003) when it had just come out. We were expecting our first child and wanted to get rid of my "tin can" Honda CRV. We looked at the Acura MDX, the BMW X5, the VW Toureg, the Explorer and Expedition, the Pathfinder ...
Pros: Great styling and does handle very well... Cons: Dash, running light switch location and dealing with Volvo
Love the body styling and purchased the running boards which only enhanced the look. The the vehicle could just be driven. This car has been in the shop more times than any other car I have owned - ever! The GM for Volvo seems to be less than ...
Beauty of this Volvo is only skin deep. by toobee ,Jul 27 '04
Pros: Body Styling, Seat Comfort. Cons: Electrical issues, Steering/seat vibration, AC odor, Brake wear, Console and control design challenges.
Only had it since June 2003 (8,000 miles) and it's been less than satisfactory for a high- priced luxury SUV. Bought it because I thought it was the most unique and beautiful body design on the drawing board. I even waited to buy a 2nd year edition so they would work on the kinks. They have not. I am on my 2nd dealer service relationship due to initial lack of resolution. Volvo service simply does not care to help it's customers and have a "take it or leave it" attitude. I paid for a Ford quality vehicle under the Volvo brand. Had Jeeps for 14 years and NEVER experienced this kind of normal operating difficulty. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SUV TO ANY OF MY FRIENDS OR FAMILY. I really wanted to love driving this vehicle.
Pros: The whole car is! Cons: Need more storage space upfront.
Read a lot about the car ,watched presentations in Europe and on driving range.
Bought among the fist 10 in the city where I live....have driven it for 12 months and 27,000 miles.
The best car buying decision in 10 years.
Handling and riding are great.
NO REGRET AT ALL.
Pros: looks nice and has advanced safety equipment Cons: poor fuel economy, poor performance
I had a rear wheel bearing fail and it ruined the brakes too... 37,000 km / 23,000 miles on the vehicle. Volvo dealer does not want to submit on warranty, as they claim that my non-Volvo wheels caused the failure. The wheels are made by Mille Miglia and recommended for this vehicle.. and they have only been on the vehicle for 2,000 km! I suspect a faulty bearing.
I bought these wheels because they looked good and were less money than Volvo dealer's steel wheels + hubcaps, but if I can't get this resolved, it will have been a big mistake
2004 Volvo XC90 HORRIBLE! Save your money! by pvillemom ,Jan 21 '04
Pros: NONE! Cons: Every last thing about it!
We purchased a 2004 XC90 in May of 2003. Our nightmare began about 4 weeks later when we experienced a loud knocking noise coming from the front of the car. Let's put it this way.......it's 9 months later, and after 4 lengthy stays at the dealership, and HORRENDOUS treatment from the dealership and Volvo Corporate.....we are getting rid of this lemon of a car. Save your $$, keep your sanity!
Pros: Versatility, stereo, fit & finish, safety. Cons: No place to stow the cargo cover when 3rd row up; somber center dash console.
I bought this car after being side-impacted in a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My focus has always been safety; after the accident, there was no question: Volvo was the car to buy. Amazing how a trip to the hospital can focus priorities for an everyday car. Want sports car fun? Buy one, and use it on occasion. But this is a wonderful, classy, workaday car. Beyond that, the fit and finish are outstanding, the interior materials appropriate to this class and cost, and the power and handling superior in every way to American SUV's. Besides, SUV owners should not be out to race--if they are, they bought the wrong car. The XC90 has great seating and hauling versatility without being a lumbering behemoth. Visibility is good with rear headrests down. I bought every available option except the "security" package, and am very pleased. Great stereo, great seats, and great looking. Actually, just a great car. Anyone who can't see this is looking for something other than this purpose-built, mission-accomplished SUV.
Pros: styling and safety (I wanted to like this car) Cons: customer service is awful, they said "I shouldn't have bought a first year car".
xc90 T6 auto,AWD premium. replaced computers, seat belts jammed, replaced air bag module & tires (excessive wear(no thread) at 10K) excessive turbo lag and noise, replaced transmission, intake manifold gaskets, wheel bearing, drivers seat reclined while driving, handle for booster seat came out, shocks & catalytic converter came loose. two inches of snow and car can't get out of my driveway. Previously had jeeps and 4runner no problem in 12 inches of snow without any problem. Volvo now taking it back as lemon law car.
