| Caffine_Free's Full Review: Bachman Books: Four Early Novels |
The Bachman Books were interesting to read. They are Rage, The Long Walk, Roadwork, and The Running Man. I just recently finished reading all four. I didn't know what to expect when I started reading, but i enjoyed all 4. In Rage, a boy takes his class hostage with a gun...and recently, it is no longer printed. Roadwork and The Running Man reminded me a lot of George Orwell. The characters were standing up to injustice in the world, and they got killed for it. They left me with a real feeling of power. The characters were just normal people, but they stood up for what they believed in, and one of them made a big difference in his world. All things considered, this is a wonderful book, and I recommend it to everyone who reads. If you can, try to find a copy of Rage. It does explain how to take your class hostage, but it also lets you look inside the head of a troubled 17 year old boy. It tells a lot about how teenagers work...how sometimes the little things in childhood can really affect them as they grow older. It's really not what I expected from Stephen King in the early 70's, but it's really good.
