I have been an avid fan of Mercedes Lackey ever since I first picked up Arrows of the queen. I have since read every book and short story she has written about Valdimar and the surrounding countries. I have also read many of her short story collections and other books.
She has consistently been a solid writer, with wonderful, well rounded characters, flawless story lines, and interesting settings. Her magic system is flawless, the stories are very believable, and the characters in them seem to come alive as you read. I am always sorry to come to the end of one of her series because I grow so fond of the characters in them. I am always wanting to know what happened after the book ends.
Her stories are never repetitious or lagging. They keep the reader up till all hours of the day and night to finish the story. She has never made a mistake that I've caught, in her books where there are often characters that were in other books as well. They all have the same interests, names and character.
