myoptical,
Valid points you make, however.... I was presuming this review would be used by one of two kinds of shoppers...1) the absolute beginner and 2) those looking to upgrade.
My experience with beginners (I've taught Word classes for several years at the local community college) is that they would not have a very good understanding of the features unless they were described in much detail...too much for the OTHER kind of shopper, the one only interested in the differences between this version and the last, and since I was able to do most of the things you listed back in my Word 97, I didn't include them here.
Just a different approach, I think, but I do appreciate your comments and welcome your critique of my future reviews...:^)

missing a lot... (Reply to this comment)

This isn't a horrible review by any means. I just don't think you covered enough of the features of Word 2000. For example, what about making html docs, page setup features, making your own graphics, fonts, shading/filling, tables, inserting documents from other programs (Microsoft's own and others), drop-down lists/check boxes, the Graph Wizard, different views, grammar/spelling checks, envelopes/labels, the Office Assistant/intuitive helpfile...?
