Cons: RW Doesn't work. Very expensive to buy to use only as a CD-ROM

I bought a Artec CD-RW Model 226 in Feb. 1999. However, I used it as a second cd-rom. I never tried the CD-RW capabilities of the drive until 2 weeks ago. I know I should have tried it before. I talked to their tech support and after two weeks of frustrating tries, lost time and many coasters being made---they said they would repair it for $35. so I mailed it to them. After they received it, without looking at the drive--they said the charge would be $169. You can buy a new one (another brand) for not much more. I told them just to mail it back it wasn't worth it! I didn't want to take a chance since the RW capabilities never did work. They wouldn't do anything about it since my warranty was over. I will never buy another Artec product or any other made by their main company Ultima International. They have very poor customer service! Other companies stand behind their products.
