An affordable story - I built my mother a computer. I had all the components lying around, except a video card. I went on the Net, looked around, and found a 8 MB video card based on Intel's i740 Chipset.

And, I'm glad I did. Instead of going with a low-end card made by Matrox or ATI, I was able to get a "generic" card with awesome performance (for it's class). The 2D acceleration is great, and the 3D is not that bad.

I would definitely recommend this card for anyone building a mid-range (non-gaming) system on a budget. There's nothing wrong with this card. It's about a year old, and still ticking. Try to find it used... these cards seem to run forever.
