When you run WindowsNT or Windows2000 you have to be very selective of what components you choose. Alot of the time, especially with the newer components (soundcards, video cards, etc) NT or 2000 support is not a gimme as with 95/98. If your lucky the drivers you need are on the included cd. I searched and searched for a good replacement for my Viper 770 and ended up at my motherboards webesite. After using several types of Asus Mainboards (currently using the Asus P2B-DS)I have come to trust them. Asus has excellent support for NT and 2000. Originally I entended to use 2000 but due to lack of software support and driver support (I personally think MS released 2000 a bit to fast) I went back to the trusty old NT.
This card is packed with features. 32 Meg of RAM, SVHS output, composite video input, DVD software (card has onboard dvd decoding), 3D VR Glasses, the 256 Graphics cpu, on board fan, hardware monitoring software, flashable BIOS, overclocking software, a pack of games specifically for use with the 3D vr glasses, all needed cables and very good directions.
I had no trouble installing this under NT or 2000. With NT you must be running at least service pack 3 though. Using Asus's website I grabbed the latest driver release from them and off I went. A tip for the power freaks like me, If you use any of the NVidia cards....go to their site and get the Detonator release drivers for your type of card. I use the 5.22 release and they are great! And, all the software that came with the card, even the DVD still function. That is a personal choice though. This card performs excellent with either the Asus or NVidia drivers.
As with all new video cards, especially the GeForce type, they can run a little high on the price. I paid $260.00 and some change for mine but it was money well spent. Asus provides excellent tech and driver support.
