| pandora12's Full Review: Imation SuperDisk Parallel Port Drive |
I originally bought the Imation SuperDrive to archive files from school. I had about 35 3.5" floppies laying around with various programming projects, notes, etc. I like to save these, because as every student knows, they can be of use later. The SuperDrive enabled me to clean up my desk a bit with its 120Mb disks.
I found the drive also to be useful for creating photo albums. Photos take up a lot of space on the hard drive, and I strongly dislike burning CDs for just a few megs of space. The Superdrive resolved this conflict for me.
It's also great for sharing files since it is an external drive. Many of my friends and family do not like me sending large files (mostly photos) via e-mail do to the lengthy time to download sometimes. Once again, SuperDrive to the rescue.
Despite how much I really like this drive, there are a few minor inconveniences. You have to run your printer through the SuperDrive, and the two don't play nice when you try to use them simultaneously. The other dislike I have about the SuperDrive is that the parallel port version can be a bit slow. A friend just bought the USB version of the drive, and it is much faster.
If you aren't ready for USB and you need additional external storage, I recommend the parallel port Imation SuperDrive.
