Let me tell you why this is the best CDRW I've ever owned.

Note Added 11-Nov-00: The Nero 5 software has free updates on the tdk site and supported very well but they dont tell you this version only works with their TDK burner. So if you have two CD burners on the same system like me this could cause some inconvenience as it did with me. This is one of my pet peeves.
I ordered this one on buy.com with a special deal they have for 50 cdr pack of media and the TDK CDRW 12/10/32 for 226.00 US including shipping. This was a great deal. I ordered online Monday night and received on UPS ground Thursday morning.
The out of box experience was excellent with easy instructions , quick start guide and a VCR video tape for those who really need some help installing the drive. The documentation and software, screws, IDE cable and tool to release stuck CD media was all included. The out of box experience far exceeded my expectations. The drive installation took one phillips screwdriver and about 10 minutes. I moved my existing IDE cdrom reader from being the Master on the secondary IDE to be the slave on the primary IDE. Then I plugged the new TDK CDRW in as the master of the secondary IDE bus.
This arrangement works well for IDE setups because a cd to cdr copy and HD to cdrw work very smoothly since they use different buses. Placing all the devices on the same SCSI bus is a good thing but I have better luck copying from one IDE bus to the other when using IDE devices.
The new TDK cdrw works like a charm I was burning and copying data cdroms withing minutes after installing Nero CD burning program. I love this program much better than Adaptec EZ CD Creator. It has always seemed to have less bugs and in some ways simpler to operate.
I have been copying and burning CDs for hours and using media that would not work in my old 6x cdrw and I havent had a single failure. Not even one coaster yet. I'm burning at 12x every time for cdr and the highest speed on every burn works perfect. I burned a 640mb data cd in about 6 minutes or less.
I have never ever had a cdr or cdrw drive that worked this flawlessly. My hats off. I am thoroughly and utterley impressed. I love this and I am so glad I did my research and bought this model and saved about 75.00 off the retail by ordering over the internet.
In most cases you can buy a fast CDR or CDRW but they wont reliably burn at the maximum speed. So far I have not been able to make this unit fail even when using crappy media that fails on my other drives.
What more can I say. Sell your current drive like me and buy a good one. Along with my Linksys Cable/DSL Router this might be one of the best purchases I've ever made as far as pleasure and bang for the buck.
It also comes with a whole suite of quality full version software such as a Digital Mixer and Audio utility and an MP3 product. Its all major brand and a very well done package. The software alone is worth 150.00 dollars or more.
