| MisterE676's Full Review: Palm m100 Personal Organizer |
I've heard a lot of people rave over Palm products before, but had never been inclined to go out and buy one for myself. Luckily, I was a good boy last year and instead of coal in my stocking (which was neatly hung over the chimney with care) I found the Palm m100.
I've never been the most organized person. Despite my resolutions to get better organized and my purchase of a leather bound organizer, I have yet to have anything to show for it.
Along comes the m100. Now, this little handheld gadget is supposed to replace the omnipotent leather bound organizer and is geared towards beginners like me. I'm a technical person, but hadn't stepped into the handheld arena as of yet.
If you're into high fashion and want to change the face plate to match your outfit... you can do that. I'll stick with my standard plate, but thanks for the offer.
You can store quite a bit of information in there... maintain an address book, schedule appointments, and even create your own list of things that need to be accomplished. Not bad for the low price of $150 (even better if Santa's elves made it for you).
The Palm m100 has PC compatibility to back up data ("HotSync" cable and software included in the package though another part will have to be ordered from Palm if you're one of the lowly "Mac" users). There are a lot of applications that contain various functions and features... you can even download information from the world wide web. This is a great tool for day traders/investors who need to keep track of financial information.
The display monitor is extremely easy to read with it's backlighting feature. This Palm is a great deal as opposed to some other products... it's relatively fast and the difference in speeds between products of this type doesn't make a more expensive purchase worth the price of admission.
I have purchased a protective case for mine since I already gave it it's first battle scars... this helps to not only protect the body but keep dirt and the ebola virus off of your display monitor. I would highly recommend purchasing this accessory.
You can install various applications as mentioned... from games, to dictionaries, and even ebooks. There's plenty of room on the Palm m100 for applications to be stored... great tool for professionals and students who ned to get a bit of organization in their lives.
Rechargable batteries are always a good idea... otherwise you should buy stock in Energizer or Duracell because you'll be keeping them in business for the coming years. After chaning my batteries every 4 days a couple of times I've invested in the rechargable batteries and they are doing just fine!
Overall I've been very happy with this product. The learning curve is next to nil and the functionality is great. It has helped me do what my faux motivation and paper organizers have failed to do. Recommended highly for professionals and students... and still a strong recommendation for everyone else.
