| elmoebeesn's Full Review: Handspring Visor Deluxe Handheld |
I have noticed that there has been quite a buzz surrounding this and similar products lately so I decided to try it out and give it a look. Fortunately, I have access to the Handspring Visor Deluxe at work and I did not have to pay the $249 for it. I am actually considering getting one now though, because I have found over the past month or so in which I have used it that this product is worth its price tag.
The first thing that struck me about the Visor is the fact that it is very small and portable. In fact, it is so tiny that it slipped out of my hand (yes I was holding it with one hand only) one day and fell directly in to the trash can.(hence the title of this opinion) At first I was quite worried that I might have damaged the unit; however, I was quick to notice that it was in good shape after I retrieved it. (lucky for me, my boss would've killed me) This is a testament to the fine durability that the Visor possesses.
Startup with this unit is a cinch. I was amazed that it only took me around an hour total to set the unit up itself and also to install the software on my PC. The purpose for this was so that I could get my files from Outlook and Microsoft to appear on the Visor. This allows the user to read email and store important information such as addresses and phone numbers or even directions. This feature is great for the traveler who doesn't want to get behind on email.
There are many other great functions that this fine product from Handspring performs as well. First of all, it has an alarm built in so that the user won't miss out on important events or meeting times. Secondly, the unit will track your expenses and give graphic results that show you the main categories where you have been spending your money. This is a great feature for people like myself who are trying to stick to a budget. Next, the Visor has a standard calculator and appointment scheduler that can be found on most computers. This is somewhat mundane, being that these programs are commonplace; however, the portability the unit provides makes these programs needed for todays' traveling businessperson. Furthermore, the unit has a time zone device which will let the user know exactly what time it is in any location across the world. Again, this is a very important feature for those who are on the move often.
All in all, I would certainly recommend this unit. I have found that it is definitely a must for the person who does a lot of business traveling. The only weakness that I have found is the fact that the screen scratches quite easily; however, this is a small difficulty compared to the benefits that the unit will provide.
