Techs Value Clones The Most

When I was in college one of my favorite college classes was building and maintaining computers and networks. I found this quite fun when I was not out with friends. Even though that does sound quite pathetic. But any case if you ask any computer tech most of them will tell you that either they build the computers themselves from scratch or had someone else do it to save time.
These type of computers are called "clones". Though they are called that because each part is built and added and configured from scratch. Now days there are so many computer companies out there and a few of them have their own specific technology or settings.
For instance, I have a really old compaq that has been hacked into several times and the only reason why I keep it is because I find it a chalange to find all the harmful stuff and eliminate it. Though someone else may find it devestating when they lose crutial information to hackers.
Now the good part about building from ground up is you can piece all the hardware and software just the way you like it. Many places do it like Dell and Gateway. Sometimes even Compaq. This also allows you to decide wether you want that really expensive video card and great sound card as well. Do you want memory to full capacity to save frustration? Or how about that read write cd drive or scanner?
These are all the things that are taken into account when building from ground zero. In essense most techs like myself will also tell you they are among the best.
Remember price is not everything. A piece of hard ware that is a video card and sound card combined is a bad idea. manufactures do this to lower consumer prices but it also lowers quality. My suggestion is when ever you see a computer with the specs at the store ask what parts are combined with other parts.
Also Do you want IDE or SCSI? This is the speed in witch data transfer moves within the hardware. Most computers are good on the personal level to use IDE. For the main fact that SCSI parts are more expensive with very little effect now days.
Lastly, make sure to ask questions at the store as to durability, warenty and make sure the product is not on display or you may get a lower warenty and less durable equipment for a brand new computer. thanks for reading.
