| ciocio's Full Review: Gateway Solo 1100 |
I bought my Gateway Solo 1100 because I needed a new computer - my desktop was on the verge of failure just at the beginning of a new college semester. It has a lot of advantages over the desktop - it's portable, so I can take it to school, or down the stairs, or off the desk, or to the backyard. It's easier to boot up - just open it and hit the power button.
I think anyone would benefit from this type of computer. Some people don't want or need portability and a desktop is fine - everyone knows desktops, dollar for dollar, are superior bargains anyway, except that you can't carry them around. It's probably best for people who use computers for everyday things (as in, around the house and school), rather than busy executives or teenagers who need a high-power machine to play games on
I chose the Gateway for two reasons: I'd had a Gateway before and it's got a good name and reputation, and I happened to buy the Solo while it was on sale so I got it at a great price ($1014 with shipping).
