| wschwartz's Full Review: Dell Inspiron 5000 R500LO |
DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE! From the day I got the computer I was having toons of problems with the sound card. It was failing diagnostics and interfering with my Xircom card somehow. I called tech support multiple times, and felt like I knew more than them. Nobody was able to understand of fix my problem. Also, I was running Win 2000, which the tech people don't even have on their own machines. So how can they help you? They sent out a technician to replace my mother board, but he couldn't even open my machine because the screws were stripped. Agggh! So, they agreed to send me a new computer. I just opened it today, and its having the exact same problems. I ran the Dell Diagnostics again, and it failed multiple tests OUT OF THE BOX! On top of eveyrthing they won't exchange for another model, I have to return it, then buy a new one again. And they won't refund my money until they get the computer back. So I could be without a computer for a month or so. Customer service was unhelpful and unknowledgable. I've heard only good things about the Latitudes, so I'm going to try for a third time.
Bottom line, avoid this computer. Avoid all Inspirons. Even the technician told me they've been having problem after problem with them.
