| beanuh's Full Review: K6-2, 500 MHz (MPN-AMD-K-2/500BOX) Processor |
Until I got my AMD K6-2 450MHZ computer I use to be stuck on a IBM Aptiva Pentium 166MHZ. You can just imagine the difference. At first I was completely amazed how fast the computer was, no more waiting 10 minutes for Internet Explorer 5 to load, lol.
If you're into any kind of real computer gaming and want a power boost, then the AMD K6-2 chip is definitely the one for you. With around $100 bucks you could give your PC an enormous upgrade compared to paying $400+ for a Pentium chip, and still get the same results.
The AMD K6-2 is very dependable and reliable, I have yet for my computer to crash for no apparent reason. So far I'm very satisfied with the way that it has handled, especially for a gamer like myself.
Personally I don't see how someone would pay $800 or more just to get the bragging rights to having a 750 or 800MHZ computer. I doubt that anyone would really need that much processing power when most of the people are only using their computers to get on AOL. That much power isn't really necessary unless you do a lot of 3D / landscaping or graphic art. So before you go out and spend your money foolishly, think about what you will be using your computer mainly for.
