| Nidal98g's Full Review: S3 Diamond Viper Ultra 770 |
I recently built an Athlon 650 system and chose this card to show it off. Several reasons led me to this decision. First of all I always try to stay one step behind the current top of the line on any thing in computers. This is because of the price differences and the plummet in price when the next "best" thing comes out. Secondly, this is a tried and true screamin' fast video card with great features.
I have always loved the little extras that Diamond throws in. Such as, access to the start menu from anywhere on the desktop. I build a lot of computers for friends and family and I have recommended this card to them all. The price is right and the performance is outstanding. As for any technical problems the people at Diamond are great. Unfortunately Diamond will not make any more TNT cards as they have been bought out by S3. I just cannot justify paying $100.00 more for a Geforce card that will soon drop in price when the next faster card appears on the market.
The only negative things I can say about this card are:
1. The lack of a TV out connection
2. It only has soft DVD playback support.
Here is a list of what I consider the most important features:
1. 32Mb of high speed ram (Twice that of Voodoo 3 cards)
2. A max resolution of 2048x1536 (A must for huge monitors like mine)
3. Refresh rates of up to 200Hz(Better for your eyes)
4. AGP 4x (For future compatibility)
5. 32-bit 3D graphics rendering (Two times Voodoo 3’s 16-bit)
6. 128-bit 2D rendering (For blazing fast office work)
7. 300Mhz DAC
8. Full OpenGL support
9. Onboard overclocking for extreme performance
10. Great software package
