bought my emachines tower in 1998.was very surprised in the speed and power compared to my buddies,it takes generic memory,all the hardware i bought was compatible!my buddy with the presario had to buy special memory chips,hes now stuck with his motherboard,games which run smoothly on the emachines plays slowly on his overpriced junk!its funny to go to best buy and see the emachines hidden on a back wall,guess they dont spend many advertising dollars,ever see a 8 page pull out full color add for emachines!gateway,what a piece of junk,gives you a book of software,you figure out which pieces you have than find some software!emachines intel motherboard and chips,great video and sound on board,if i was to do it all over again,would get the fastest etower they have and add 2 256 memory chips and would be set,awesome computer for the money,leaving you money in the bank to buy other great hardware!
