| AndyAcs929's Full Review: Dell Dimension XPS T700r |
Just a few days ago, I purchased the Dell Dimension XPS T 700r PC, to help feed my gaming, internet, and MP3 needs. These needs were easily fulfilled by this superpowerful PC.
It arrived in three seperate boxes, one holding the CPU, one holding the monitor, and one holding the speakers. The Dimension's benchmark speeds are very high, clocking in at 700 MhZ with an 100 MhZ Serial Bus as well. The graphic card is also the top of the line. A Rage ATI card with AGP technology fits the needs of gamers, starving for great, smooth graphics. The monitor is also a great buy. If you order over the web, the sizes are customizable from a 17" monitor to a 21" monitor. For another $650 you can recieve a 15" LCD monitor which is visually stunning, but has a steep price. One of the best features of the PC is the speaker system. The Dimension comes with two Altec Lansing speakers and a subwoofer which creates incredible sounds for games or listening to music.
The Dimension comes with a few free months of Dell's online service DellNet. It is very easy to get started on the web. If you have an existing connection, the Dimension will search and recognize it. You will have to enter the phone number and that's it. The internal modem is fast (56K) and quiet.
The Dimension also comes with an 8X DVD Rom drive and WinDVD software. This is great for playing DVD's and CD's as well.
Another great aspect is the USB port in the back for the use of an MP3 player and digital cameras. Use the port to transport songs and images fast and easily. The PC also comes with Windows 98 Second Edition, which is a revamped version of Windows 98, fixing some small bugs that plagued the first version.
The Dimension also comes with a slew of software such as Word 2000, Microsoft Expedia, and Microsoft Works.
There were only minor problems with the PC. It has trouble recognizing some data on CD-R's. If you have data on an old PC and try to transmit it to the Dimension, it may detect several errors and shut down. Another small problem is it does not come with a mousepad, which is a small problem if you already own one, or it may be a hassle because you may have to use a sheet of paper before you purchase a mousepad.
Overall, it is a very powerful, fast, and impressive PC. If your looking for a computer with speed, power, and stunning features, than this is for you.
