MSN Messenger is not exactly my idea of a perfect messenger service. For one, it is a really REALLY blatant attempt to get people to sign on to Hotmail (read my opinion on that). The service just doesn't have enough features to make it worthwhile. It's annoying to hear a noise and watch the bar blink every single time someone sends a message. I use a proxy server and I had a very difficult time getting it to work. Even now, it still logs me off for no reason and I have to log on again. But the worst part about MSN Messenger Service is the lack of control on the fonts. You can't read a font the other person sends you if you don't have it. When you don't it reverts to a plain font, but you can't tell if the person is getting your new font. You have a small selection of sizes, and they are all way too small. It hurts my eyes to do Instant Messenging for any period of time. Another thing that annoys me is the fact that it crashes all the time. Hardly a day goes by where it doesn't crash and then have to be shut down.
MSN Messenger might be worth it if you only have a Hotmail account. If you don't, then don't sign on to Hotmail and don't download MSN Messenger. It just isn't worth it.
