I purchased this burner because my windows environment and registry was beyond repair, and I had to reformat my hard drive. but didn't have any way of saving my data. When I got it, it was a snap to install. I set it up as a slave adjacent to my cd rom drive using the daisy chain method. I only use my burner to burn stuff and for data storage purposes only, but anyway, I had about 4 gigs of important data that I had to save before I wiped my hard drive clean. I really liked the direct CD drag and drop functionality in which you can use a re-writable cd like a external drive to save your data on. All in all I used six 650 MB cd's to store all my data. I didn't have any problems what so ever and when I reinstalled my new operating system and went to retrieve my data that I saved, all my data was intact with no errors in them. I also like the drag and drop easy cd creation for mp3 to cd. And you can even drag wav and other types of audio files to encode to burn a cd for your home stereo system. And did I mention fast? This is my first burner that I have had. but I highly recommend it, ya cant go wrong with it! I'm going to get more of these units for my other computers.. by the way, I purchased my unit at Comp-USA for $226.00
