| denatron's Full Review: S3 Diamond Viper Ultra 770 |
I was first introduced to the world of video cards in 1997. Purchased a computer from Micron over the phone after looking at what is to offer for the first PC, price range etc. The price then was right.
So I waited at home with the free delivery that came along with the package and a special going on at that time. Included with that PC was a diamond Video Card. I don't even remember the features it had because it's been some time now. That was around the same time I bought the Flight Simulator 98. The software and hardware where in sync of it's time for optimal performance running on Windows 95. I spent hours on the game learning how to configure the best possible performance of clarity and visual. The PC was 3 gigabytes of memory with a motherboard fixed at 200 CPU. I thought that was the state of the art. It was back then.
Since then, I have upgraded my PC and to find the best possible price included rather than buying the whole package all in one. It's less expensive excluding the full package warranty. So I started with a new motherboard, sound card and of course, the dealer then said some of the compartments where not removable from the Micron casing like the sound card. I had no choice to by a new one then to put this PC together apiece at a time.
Anyway, after all was completed, I still had the old Diamond video card. Of course, the speed of my new CPU made a big difference with the visual of the video card. They where not very compatible. It was then time to upgrade another addition and I spent a day or so researching what to buy.
So, I bought this Diamond Viper 770 Ultra series from Comp USA. I was told that was one of the best video cards on the market then from several people. Went straight home and installed the video card and started up the Flight Simulator 98 after downloading the software included with the video card. To my amazement, the textures are clear and crisp. Much better than what I had before.
This Video Card carries Advanced 3d feature set and 32-bit/ Z/stencil buffer insuring a dazzling image quality. It delivers unprecedented speed and quality for 2D, 3D and video acceleration. TwiN Texel 3d engine, including two rendering pipelines for true single pass multitexturing, for rendering of the most intricate environments.
This means the rivers, buildings and land texture and Oceans of this game are clearer than the first Video card that came with the first PC purchase. I was off and running with the world of new fun. I have purchased a few games since then though I don't spend a lot of time playing these games anymore. It also comes in handy when on the net including crisp clear images like pics, Web Cam etc. There is also a five-year warranty attached with this Card.
Though time is change, and this card is probably outdated like most Hardware/Software goes in just one year or less, I have had nothing but good to say about this Diamond Viper V770. When I purchase or upgrade in the future, I'll be sure to include a Video Card from Diamond.
