After paying $22 a month for AOL for over a year, I decided to venture out and try one of the many free isp's that were popping up all over the place. I checked out Netzero, and it looked legitamate, so we signed up right away. I was so used to AOL and the format they use, so it was a little different switching to Netzero. But it didn't take long before I was in love with it! It is very easy to use, and I rarely have problems connecting. In fact, I had a harder time connecting to AOL than I do with Netzero. The service is very reliable also. I can't remember a time when I was not able to sign on.
So what's the catch? Well, Netzero makes it's money from advertisers. So, you must view ads from their advertisers while connected. They show the ads in a viewbar that is approximately 1 inch tall and 6 inches wide. You must have the bar up on the screen the entire time you're signed on. A nice feature is that you can move the bar anywhere on your screen. I always move it up in the top right corner. It continuously flashes ads while you're connected to the internet. You do not have to click on them and you are not required to visit any sites or buy anything from them.
At first the bar was a little annoying, but now I sometimes forget it's there!
Overall, it's definately worth a little inconvenience from the ad bar to get free internt access!
