Jackpot.com is a cross between a Pay-To-Surf cashbar, like AllAdvantage.com, and a casino. You signup by entering your email address and selecting a password. You are then directed to download the slot machine and cashbar. The download and installation were easy if a bit long with about 1 Mb to download. A userid is emailed to you to enter with the password you chose earlier when the application is started.
Spinning the reels
You are awarded 50 free spins by signing up. The slot machine is fun to play. It has three reels that spin advertisements. There is some random variation built into how fast and long the reels spin, but, on average, it takes about 4 seconds for all of the reels to stop spinning. You can't start the next spin until the first has completely stopped, even if you already know that you haven't won anything. There is a banner ad at the top of the slot machine. At the bottom of the slot machine, there are a link to the home page, displays of the Progressive Super Jackpot, your Jackpoint Balance, your Remaining Spins, and a help button.
Prizes
There is is a display of what you can win below the reels. You can win more spins, Jackpoints and cash (up to $1,000,000). In my first 50 spins, I won 5 more spins by matching 2 Eve.com advertisements and 1 Jackpoint for matching 3 netgrocer advertisements. Since then, about 200 spins, I haven't won any more prizes. Jackpoints can be used in auctions or redeemed for prizes directly.
Odds
The odds for winning a cash prize range from 1:4,032 for $25 to 1:2,419,200 for $1,000,000. The complete listing of odds can be found at http://www.jackpot.com/about/rules.asp#prizes .
Privacy concerns
When you initial 50 spins run out, you are prompted for your name, address, phone number and demographics. According to the privacy statement on the Jackpot.com, this information is only used for internal purposes, such as targeting advertising and supplying aggregate data to potential advertisers, and not sold to other companies.
Earning more spins
You do not earn spins while the slot machine is showing. When you click on the "Earn More Spins" button above the handle of the One-Armed Bandit, the cash machine then converts into an adbar at the top of the screen. It takes up the the full width of the screen and is about as deep as the AllAdvantage adbar. For each minute that the adbar is displayed and you are connected to the internet, you earn another spin. The free spins are reliably credited. A green button indicates that you are earning spins. To switch back to the slot machine, you click on the Play button that looks like the handle of a slot machine.
Overall
This sweepstakes is easy to download and install. The graphics are well done and fun to watch, although I have to admit it gets boring after a couple of hundred spins without winning anything. If you like sweepstakes and adbars, give it a shot.
