Pros: Top of the line, all my friends are (still) jealous.
Cons: Hours of my life wasted on hold, and they shouldn't hire temp support, even during peak periods, to take down personal information.

| enarra's Full Review: Dell Dimension XPS T600 w/DVD |
I received my new Dimension T600 a few days ago. I've been trying to buy this computer for about a month now. We started out looking at Dell's web site. We customized the system we wanted at the web site with was very useful. Since our old computer broke down not long after I was forced to complete the buying process over the telephone.
This is where Dell lost it's five star rating in my point of view. I called them and spoke to a friendly fellow who took my order without any problems. Since I wanted to pay using the lease option I was told that he would e-mail my information to the finance department and they would call me during the daytime (they only work 9 to 5). The next day I received a voice mail message from a woman named Grace (no last name given) who sounded like she hated her job, and was eating a sandwich while leaving a voice message to prove it. Lets just say I wasn't impressed. I called Grace back, and was rudely led through a series of personal questions. Before hanging up she informed me that someone would call me "maybe tomorrow". Maybe tomorrow stretched on for three days, at which point I decided to call them. Since I didn't want to speak to the depressing Grace again I called the main phone line and was eventually transferred to a manager's phone. It rang about 30 times before I gave up and decided to call Grace again, at least I had her extension number. Well it was quite a surprise when a man answered the phone. He had never heard of a Grace working at Dell, ever . . . I worried over this for the rest of day, I had given her all my personal info. Eventually I called the man back and he explained that he was away last week during which a temp had been using his office, Grace. He was helpful and gave me some extension numbers of people to contact, and about a week later I was finally faxed a copy of the contract.
After reading the contract I decided to pay in cash. They where going to add approx. $2000 of interest to the cost of the machine over the three years of the contract (I only wanted a two year contract to begin with) and I would never be aloud to modify the system without written notice from them before hand. In the end I called a different sales rep. and bought the computer under my fiancée's name (he paid for it). We sent a check and received the computer 9 days later.
How does it perform? Amazingly well, it is faster than any computer I have ever used, installing programs and downloading Webpages in a blink of an eye. As for the modem problems that other people have been experiencing, I cannot give an epinion on that, I removed the modem and replaced it with my old cable modem within a few hours of taking it out of the box.
One final note: So far their tech. support has been great. The speakers we received with the system did not work, I called and will be receiving new ones tomorrow by courier. It's to bad they didn't work in the first place, but at least no one gave me a hassle about replacing them.
