MONEY ADDS UP WITH REFERRALS!? Update 8-29-00

I signed up for imandi in February. The program works like this: you send them referrals and they will deposit $5 in your imandi account (up to 20 direct referrals, $2 each after 20) and they also pay for indirect referrals. They claim that with as few as 10 referrals (who all go and get another 10 themselves) you could earn $10,000! I am no where near that myself and I have 33 direct referrals, 16 indirect and 3 after that.
They offer a program for services. If you are in the market to get some work done (or need another service, like a mover or cleaning person) you fill out an information page and check off all the companies you would like to hear from. The companies are then suppose to contact you to give you an estimate. You are under no obligation to use one of the companies....
Now you knew there would be a catch -- you must use your first $250 of every $1000 you earn through them (they would issue a check written out to you and the company of your choice) at first the idea that I would have to spend the first $250 through them bothered me.... But now I am thinking that if they want to send me money to do something I would have done anyway is fine with me...
I have contacted the site 3 times now. First time I was interested in getting estimates from movers as we were about to make a big move -- of the 2 companies that contacted me, one had never heard of imandi before they got a message from imandi with my name. I didn't end up using either of the those companies. Next we were going to tent our home for termites before we moved into it and so I requested exterminators and this time the companies that called didn't do termite treatments! Well the third time was the charm...
I am about to do a big remodel job and so back to imandi I went. Several companies checked in this time and we ended up choosing one of the them (again, they had no idea who imandi is but is happy they got the referral!) With all my referrals I was up to $111.25 (not all of my referrals have activated their accounts and you don't get credit for them until they do...).
I asked for the check on a Wednesday, on Monday I got a phone call from a representative to confirm my mailing information and how I wanted the check written out. The check arrived 3 days later! It was written out just as I had requested.
Anyway, to make a long story short (and this is where you say "too late") I think it is a worthwhile program and I think you might want to go check it out. Another bonus -- you are allowed 2 people from the same mailing address, so after you sign up and get a referral ID name sign up your spouse (or significant other) and you already have $5 in your account!
