My s3 Stealth III xtreme s540 wasn't cutting it when it came to high resolutions. Sure i could play my 2D games and my "3D" games that had an overhead view, but when it came to first person or 3rd person view (Tomb Raider style), the s3 couldn't handle resolutions above 800x600. Even with my 800mhz p3 and 128MB of pc133 RAM, it would lag behind the rest. My friend then told me that I need a change in chipset, so I bought the Visiontek Geforce 2 MX on ebay for a great price of $95 including shipping. I have to say, it was definitely worth it. The games are more crisp and clear and cannot be beat.
Sure the other nVidia Geforce 2 models are faster than this, but who wants to spend $250 on the GTS or $400 on the Ultra. This is the card for those gamers out there that are on a budget and want good graphics nonetheless.
After upgrading, I decided that I should sell my old card on eBay because I no longer needed it. Turns out I sold it for $50, so the card in reality only cost me $45. This was an amazing deal. If you have an Older and slower AGP video card, you should sell it and buy this, because it's probably 10x better than that.
The installation is easy, and with nVidia's new drivers, the games work better than when these cards first came out. But this card isn't only for gamers. It supports high resolutions so and 32bit coloring so businesses and engineers who need those qualities out of a video card will be pleased, along with those that don't need them, because it is an added benefit for a cheap cost.
The only thing i recommend is buying a fan specifically for this card, because it neither has a heat-sink nor a fan. Although this was very dissapointing, the fans can be purchased for roughly $10 on ebay, and the installation is so simple because the fan is designed specifically for the card. It's called the Chipset Blue Orb.
