by uribou Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Apr 13 '01
Pros: Great mobile tool at very reasonable price
Cons: Can't be replaced with the desktop, if you are a serious computer user.
Two friends of mine have Dell Inspiron 3800. One bought a customized version at around $1700 a few months ago. The other bought the default version the other day. In this review, I focus on the default version, which is now offered for $999.

Um, does this thing come in some normal color?

by basilisk4 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Dec 14 '00
Pros: Fast, reasonably priced, available in four goofy colors!
Cons: None so far
I realize that some people like everything in their lives to be extremely colorful. For them, the Dell Inspiron 3800 can be purchased in different colors, presumably to match the outfit you're wearing that day. Personally, though, I think that some...

Solid working notebook from a reliable company

by rfox01 , Aug 20 '01
Pros: Solid business working notebook, bright TFT 14" display, excellent support
Cons: This is an older model replaced by newer & better ones.
I bought the Dell Inspiron 3800 in August 2000 for $1800 (including S+H and extra warranty). Although this is a solid working machine, Dell has phased out this model and has newer models out sporting the latest technologies. They still have some I3800...

Design Your Computer

by emily002 , Jun 16 '00
Pros: choose your options, good service, reliable product
Cons: no major ones
I recently purchased the Dell Inspiron 3800 for college next year. So far it has been great, better than my desktop. The best part about buying a Dell is that you can choose the components you want, and, therefore, exactly what features are most...

Good Price for a Solid Machine WITH UPDATE 12/12/00

by corndoggz , Nov 07 '00
Pros: priced competitively, available in different colours (although you shouldn't buy a computer based on colour), available with different options, nice TFT screen
Cons: mixed reports on technical support
UPDATE
One of the mouse buttons for the pointing stick broke. I called Dell and they sent a technician to my house two days later. The part's been replaced--no problem at all. As far as I'm concerned, their reputation for excellent...

Pros: Comes in different colors.
Cons: little costly
The Dell Instpiron 3800 C500ST is a great computer. One of the thing I like about it the most it that it comes in 4 different colors. I have always wanted a computer in a different color than the boring white or black. This laptop is one of the best...

Cost Effective Performance

by ruel , Jun 20 '00
Pros: lots of ports, 2 battery operation, modularized drives, bright screen, sharp screen
Cons: I wish I can install 2 batteries and leave the cdrom drive
Being a network administrator, I am very familiar with the different quirks of every major computer brand. I've tried them all, Compaq, IBM, Dell, etc... But the brand I prefer most because it has not given me any problems is DELL.

So when I...

Cons: a little heavy, cd-rom is separate
I first ordered this computer at the end of February and there was no sign of it until the second week of April, even though the friendly customer service representative assured me that it would take no more than a few weeks. It turns out, however, that...

Good Value Great Performance

by robgalaviz , May 08 '01
Pros: The price is excellent for a PIII system.
Cons: The 3.5 floppy and DVD ROM share a docking bay.
I purchased my Dell after researching price and value in traditional retail systems (Compaq, Sony, IBM, etc). The deciding factor ended up being a promotion Dell ran including a free extra battery, free shipping and a DVD upgrade. The machine has been...
