Pros: It's free and easy to use Cons: You may be assaulted by complete morons
I was using my AOL Instant Messenger the other day, talking to one of my long-distance esteemed and cultured colleagues about Lizst's interpretation of Chopin's second aria, when suddenly I was rudely interrupted by a user I had never heard of...

Pros: Great way to talk to people anywhere in the world in real-time without spending a fortune on the phone bill, many useful features, good way to distract yourself from doing homework or anything else you don't feel like doing! Cons: Every now and then it will lose its connection to my ISP and sign me off, interrupting my chat sessions. Typical aol!
I once was a member of aol, but let's just say things did not work out between us (put simply: I HATE THEM!!!). But, I forgave them slightly when I discovered the wonderful AOL Instant Messenger.
I've been a IM user for about three years now, and...

Pros: Simple easy convenient Cons: Too simple at times
AOL Instant Messenger is great for simple chatting with others. It is almost like the AOL version. It has the features of having color, different fonts, and different styles. It also includes simple "happy face" icons that you can add color...

Pros: easy to use Cons: it is just like AOL
I dislike AOL, but with so many online contacts being ON AOL, I had to download this so that we could chit-chat one on one.
The download interrupted itself no less than 6 times. I was not surprised...that is AOL for you! I installed the...

Pros: Works with company firewall Cons: People might think you use AOL for an ISP
I was a die hard fan of ICQ, but had to give it up because ICQ access was blocked by our company firewall. ICQ uses socks port ~5000 to link up to the ICQ servers and to other ICQ users. That port is always blocked by corporate firewalls. However, AIM...

Pros: Free, Easy to use Cons: None
AOL IM is a very easy to use, user friendly chat client. AOL IM will allow you to communicate with AOL's users. So, before aol im started, there was no way for AOL's users to chat with anyone else on the net without them being on AOL. Now AOL has...

Pros: Chat with people on AOL Cons: No history, no file transfer
If the world weren't what it was, and the only messaging client out there was AOL's Instant Messenger, then AOL would have millions of people downloading this.. As it stands, however, AIM doesn't shine out.. It just sits dully, on the shelf, with the...

Pros: free instant messaging, connection with AOL members Cons: A little slow when loading it up, must register
It's really that simple. You should go to www.download.com or www.aol.com and download the chat/instant message utility because it is very simple yet useful.
Most of your internet friends have the luxury of America Online, one of the best...

Pros: Simple, Stable Cons: 100 Name Limit, Stores user specific information in executable folder (or worse, registry)
AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, ICQ, PowWow...and I'm sure I've forgotten some of them. What they all have in common is that they are Instant Message programs. The flaw that they all have is in their constant desire to be unique, they have failed to adapt a common...

Pros: Easy to use Cons: Pop up messages are aggrivating at times
This is a great basic chat program, for those that don't want all the bells and whistles and just want to be able to chat.
It does have a few extra features. Probably the best one is the file transfer option. You can share folders over aolim...

Pros: Great, Love it Cons: Still some bugs, But the Pro outcomes the pros
What first came to mind before downloading this product is, "It's AOL... should I go with my arc nemesis?" ;) but after downloading it , and using it for about a year and a half, I feel it was well worth the download. I know there are people...

Pros: simple to use; comfortable messaging interface; "everyone" uses it Cons: user base is too poorly organized; too easy to accidentally dismiss pop-up dialogues; sometimes lags; poor handling of file transfers
I would rank AOL Instant Messenger (better known as AIM) second best among all the chat programs I have ever used, although that number isn't very high, I admit. I find that its design makes for comfortable dialogue-style conversations with very little...

Pros: FREE, Send Pictures, Voice Chat, IMs, Chats, everything! Cons: You might not get the screen name you want
AOL Instant Messanger is one of the best of all the Instant Messaging tools out there such as Yahoo! Messanger, MSN Messanger, ICQ, and many more. This one has been out for a long time and has progressed into a service that lets the user do...

Pros: FREE, Easy to use, Fast, Reliable, Wide user base Cons: No cross-compatibility
I first downloaded AIM about a year or so ago and believe it was version 2.0. Even then, it still shined. I now have 4.0 and the best just got better... They added file transfer (which brought alot of ICQ users to the AOL flock... Of course, AOL later...
