MSN Messenger Service

by three_ster Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Oct 25 '01
Pros: easy to use, free, sometimes a lot of fun :)
Cons: sometimes a little slow, sometimes loads without asking
After a long time of not having a hotmail account of my own, and hearing everyone rave out how great it was compared to other e-mail servers that they had used, I finally broke down and signed up for a hotmail account. I was pretty pleased with the ...

Great For Jabber Mouths Like Me! MSN Messenger Saves Phone Bills!

by jro26 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Jun 22 '01
Pros: IT'S FREE!
Cons: No more free PC-to-PC phone calls! :O(
After using this service for many months, I have decided I better give them some praise. Through the months I have tried many, many other chat services and nothing compares to MSN Messenger.

Getting Started
First off, you...

Take Dr. Ruth's advice -- Communication is good

by basilisk4 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Jan 23 '01
Pros: Free, convenient, simple, and did I mention FREE?
Cons: Can be annoying if the people on your buddy list are
Communication is good -- at least, that’s the premise behind Microsoft’s MSN Messenger Service. Seriously though, whether we’re talking about a girlfriend-boyfriend relationship or a purely platonic one that’s nevertheless very close, communication is...

MSN Messenger--This Has Become My Messenger of Choice

by marsha32 , Jul 31 '01
Pros: Please see the review--too many to list here.
Cons: Must have a hotmail account and you can't leave offline messages.
I have experience with most all messengers out there. MSN Messenger has become my messenger of choice.
You must first have a Hotmail account to use it. This is a problem for some as you tend to get bombarded with spam e-mails through...

MSN Messenger: Worth a try

by navinthebean , Dec 01 '00
Pros: Fast; Easy access to Hotmail
Cons: You can message people who are offline; Messages don't always go through
MSN Messenger is a free chat client that allows you to talk to your friends and family in real time. The main reason I downloaded MSN Messenger was to check for new emails at my Hotmail account. It immediately notifies me when I get new email or not, so...

I'm having an affair...with this!

by seracorde11 , Jun 20 '01
Pros: quiet compared to other programs, down-to-business, integrated with email system
Cons: hard to locate people unless specific passport or email address is known
I have been using “instant messaging” services for our four years due to the ease of use and the need to keep in contact with specific people through the internet. I have used these services for work and personal reasons. After using ICQ throughout the...

A nice alternative to ICQ.

by mythor , Sep 14 '00
Pros: Free, reliable and easy to use. Intuitive interface, without too much clutter.
Cons: Doesn't have some of the niftier features like ICQ has. It's Microsoft, so some people won't use it on principle.
Realistically, MSN isn't going to be most people's first choice when it comes to an instant message client. ICQ has too great a stranglehold on the number one position at present for anyone to knock it off it's throne. MSN Messenger is certainly a worthy...

SURPRISE... Your next Instant Messenger has Arrived!!!

by westlogger , Aug 07 '00
Pros: Free long distance calling, can see when other person is typing
Cons: None that bother me
I've always wondered why more people don't use the instant messenger from MSN. Is it because so many people love to hate Microsoft? Or are they just too used to having all those bells and whistles they get with ICQ? Personally, the MSN messenger has...

Microsoft MSN Messenger Service- Where Is Everybody?

by rpllingrock Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Nov 10 '00
Pros: Net2Phone=Free Calls
Cons: Unable to connect to server at times
After trying about every messenger service available to mankind, it was time to give MSN a try. There is one feature that makes it stand out above the crowd, but it alone may not be able to topple Yahoo! and AIM. The giants.

This...

Microsoft Never Stops Trying...

by Cornell2000 , Jan 31 '01
Pros: free pc-to-phone calling, Hotmail integration
Cons: no interoperability with AOL Instant Messenger, the current standard in Instant Messenging
You have to wonder why Microsoft insists on making software that can do virtually everything imaginable. MSN Messenger is one of their latest concoctions and represents another attempt at dominating the market by Microsoft.

I am a little...

Another lame Instant Messenger

by jhcashman , Sep 03 '00
Pros: integrated in to hotmail
Cons: lack of features and users
MSN messenger service is quick and very easy to use. However it is also quite annoying and useless. I first got Msn Instant messanger back when it first came out. Windows update basically would tell me to get it every time I started my computer....

Instant Messaging: FREE Long Distance Anyone?

by tacall , Sep 26 '00
Pros: integration with MSN and Hotmail, ease of use
Cons: can't use with AIM, ICQ
Like everyone else, I started with ICQ. Then came MSN Instant Messenger Service. The first time I tried to use it with my existing Hotmail account was a bit difficult. I eventually got a whole new Hotmail account, and everything worked fine (hmmm?).

Microsoft MSN Messenger Service Eats ICQ For Breakfast. Microsoft MSN Messenger.

by armchair , Oct 18 '01
Pros: Simple to use. Fast to load. No unnecessary fruit.
Cons: Some may flinch at needing a MSN Passport or Hotmail account to utilise MSN Messenger.
I thought that ICQ was great. That was, until I was introduced to Microsoft MSN Messenger, Microsoft's free instant messaging service..

The beauty of MSN Messenger is it's ease of use. It is oh, so simple to operate. ICQ...
