Pros: Neat printing features, loading CD content onto hard disk Cons: Weak functionality, no extras, search screws
Being new to a (sorry) big ass country as the United States and have to travel for business is certainly not the most efficient combination in terms of speedy business. So, I purchased Microsoft Streets 98 and Trip Planner 98 about 2 years ago. My...
Pros: As complete a road reference as you could ever want. Cons: You must follow the installation instructions exactly.
OK guys, lets admit it, we do not ask directions when driving. Now, there can be no reason to catch any flak from you know who, or even burn up unnecessary fuel looking for a particular destination. Street Atlas Deluxe from the DeLorme Company, is the...
Pros: Block-to-block street level routing and GPS navigation. Cons: Not for vacation planning. Point-of-interest searches take minutes and lack detail.
If you are looking for door-to-door routing software that doesnt require you to be online, then Street Atlas 2003 (SA2003) is for you. It handles routing quickly and accurately and the road database is extensive. But, if you are looking for travel ...
Pros: smart, cheap and gets you where you need to go Cons: graphics, interface?
The Street Atlas Program came with our DeLorme GPS unit... you know the James Bond Never Get Lost Do-Hickey you attach to your laptop so you know where you are going device. We were a little too excited about using the GPS and so I have to admit there...
Pros: Works great with GPS Cons: Slight learning curve
It has never been easier to convince myself that I needed a GPS receiver and an excellent mapping program for my laptop computer, since I must be the "master" at getting lost (even in my own city).
Pros: Excelent program with much to look at Cons: Free options are often just as good
If you are the kind of person who likes to travel, but does not like to ask directions from anyone, this program could be for you. Street Atlas USA 7.0 is a boon to travelers and offers other useful information. The program comes with two CDs, the one is...
Pros: Extremely accurate and efficient routing, extremely accurate and rich mapping, excellent GPS navigation Cons: no heading up display option, chronicly overestimates travel time, provides no ETA
I've been using Street Atlas USA for GPS navigation for 5 years. I will not travel without it.
The first time you try GPS navigation in your car, you will be amazed. There on your laptop screen is an icon on the map showing your current...
Pros: Cheap, very detailed, great with GPS, beats the competition Cons: Sometimes gives poor directions
I use Street Atlas USA version 6 and I've tried 7 with my Delorme Earthmate serial-port GPS. All in all, I am extremely satisfied - when used with your laptop, it is probably the cheapest means of having a GPS in your car, and probably the niftiest....
Pros: Inexpensive and works well with GPS Cons: Needs to update information about some roadways
I recently received Street Atlas 7.0 as a gift. I was a bit shocked to see the route suggested for one of my trips around town. It had me go a few miles out of the way and through more traffic than is necessary to get where I was headed.
Pros: accurate and good information Cons: Must have your laptop with you.
I have both the Global Explorer and the Street Atlas USA downloaded onto my laptop. They are both very easy to use and very handy when traveling to new places.
I took the Global Explorer with me to Europe last summer. It was very good for...
Delorme Takes Away Features in 2005... by movinsue ,Aug 21 '04
Pros: 12/04: Delorme listened to its angry customers and restored the multiple route/draw feature. Cons: Don't throw away your previous software--SA 2005 has BIG CHANGES in the database!
Delorme has led consumers to believe that Street Atlas 2005 is an Upgrade of Street Atlas 2004. This means that you get the same features in 2005 as in 2004--only better---right?
WRONG!
You do get some great new driving features. The graphics are improved and easier to read.
However, after installing the new program (which has an installation problem requiring a patch), I spent over an hour trying to access certain program features available in previous versions. After wasting all that time, I spent an additional 30 minutes on delorme.com and found that some of the features I had in previous Street Atlas versions were no longer available unless I upgraded my purchase to the 2005 PLUS product! The PLUS product costs DOUBLE the price of the Regular Version.
Specifically, you LOSE some important features like multiple draw/route layers. This is a VERY important feature for users who depend on the software for travel planning.
I trusted that Delorme would not TAKE AWAY features in an upgraded product! I also trusted that Delorme would accurately represent the product.
Being inside the 30 day guarantee period, I intend to phone for a Return Authorization AND write a letter of protest!
