| Javelina's Full Review: Jokari Shower And Sink Soap Holder 05006 |
Im a neat freak, and although not paranoid of germy things, I try to keep things as clean as possible. The kitchen and sink are, of course, what I consider to be germy. I bought this Jokari Soap Holder to use differently than advertised- for sponges rather than soap.
So, What is a Soap Holder?
This company also makes a sponge holder, which is very similar. The Jokari Soap Holder is a plastic bracket that suctions to wherever you need it- the inside side of the sink, the shower, anywhere with a smooth surface. The sponge holder looks almost the same, although the front has one large bracket rather than the two that the soap holder has.
There really isnt too much of a difference, and I think the two can almost be reversed in terms of use.
What I Use This For
I use my Jokari Soap Holder for sponges, and it works great. (I use regular, rectangular sponges). I keep the holder on the inside of the sink, somewhere on the sides. When I put the sponge in it, it keeps the sponge off kitchen counters and away from water. This gives it a chance to dry off, rather than harboring dirty dish water as much as it normally would.
I actually dont want to use this for bar soap, because I simply keep my bar soap on a hanging shower caddy in the bathroom, and I dont use bar soap in the kitchen. Instead, this little gadget helps keep kitchen clutter down, and reduces germ breeding!
My Thoughts
This is a great organizational tool to have in the kitchen, which also reduces bacteria (hopefully!). Because my sponges stay cleaner and drier, it is much more pleasant to use a sponge in the kitchen. If I need to wipe up a wet counter, theres a dry, unsoggy sponge waiting for me that doesnt need to be rinsed and rung out. Theres none of that picking up a cold, wet, germy sponge that has been sitting in the sink for a soggy day. And I dont have to dig around in the sink to find a sponge. It also frees up some room on my counters, and means no soapy buildups around the sink.
You also dont have to worry about finding your sponge in a sink full of dishes and maybe a knife or two. No more archaeological digs for the sponge, no more worries that it is about to go down the disposal. Its right there, in the Jokari soap holder!
The Jokari Sponge Holder is really handy to have in the kitchen or bathroom. I use it for sponges, but Im sure using it for soap yields the same results (until the soap is too small to fit in the brackets).
I have gotten these for family members, and they use it for the same purpose (sponges, not soap).
I have not had any problems with the suction cup falling off surfaces. We use it in a metal sink, and it doesnt fall off.
Price & Where to Find
I bought my soap holder at Linens N Things. It cost me about $1.50, which I think is very reasonable. I bought it intending to use it for sponges, as I didnt see the sponge holder at the store. This is very inexpensive, and it would probably cost more to ship this than the actual product price!

Overall
The Jokari Soap Holder means better storage and functionality of your bar soap or sponges. It helps to improve cleanliness in the kitchen or bathroom, and also frees up cluttered areas. Whereas I normally dread looking for a cold, soggy sponge that has been sitting in a dirty sink all day, the Jokari Soap Holder makes life easier! Soggy sponges and soaps are breeding grounds for bacteria, and this can be eliminated with this inexpensive little gadget. No matter what you use it for, I think this will help keep kitchens and bathrooms a little less germy!
