Clean the Darned thing

The Bottom Line Take care of your car and it will last longer, duh?
Many of us abuse our cars to death and then wonder why in two years the car breaks down. Hello? Anybody home? Take care of your vehicle. You spend on average about $19.000 on a new car, but then let it go to pot by not taking care of it? Doesn't make much sense to me.
The first thing is to wash the car at least once a month. When I got my first car I made sure to wash the car once a week. It was my baby, I wanted to take care of it. I cleaned both the inside and outside and it looked great.
You don't have to go to a fancy car wash and get a "Superior Super Duper Clean," just wash the car yourself. Get some car washing liquid a bucket, use your hose and wash the car. It will give you some exercise. Now granted I understand that in the winter you may not feel like getting into your swimsuit and cleaning your car, that is the time that you can take it to the car wash. Or better yet, let a teenage crew wash it for you. They usually do a very good job and they are always trying to earn money for a good cause.
In high school I participated in many car washes and we were always careful with everyone's vehicle. We even dried the car off for them. The cost was a $3.00 donation and we usually received a bit more. The cause was for HIV/AIDS Awareness at our high school.
Cosmetic care isn't the only thing that you need to worry about though. The most important tip that you will ever hear about cars: Change the oil every three months or 3,000 miles, which ever comes first. A friend of mine ruined his engine because he didn't change his oil in a very long time. A big mistake, especially for Florida because we have drastic weather in the summer. Change the oil in your car and it will be a happy car. You will also be happy because you won't have to spend more money maintaining your car then necessary. Don't worry about how much money you spend on getting your oil changed so often, and if you do, then learn how to change the oil yourself, just dispose of it properly.
That is pretty much it. Take care of your car and it will last longer
