JR Cigars should be your first stop for cigars. Nick has researched prices extensively and this is the absolute best prices around.
The website is manly browns, with a big splash of red/yellow/white advertising their weekly 1 O'Clock Madness Sale. Very eye catching. This madness sale occurs every Saturday morning (Friday night) at umm 1 AM (EST). They choose a different cigar every time and drastically reduce the price for one hour. You are limited to one box per customer, but it's a hella deal.
Of course, you don't have to wait for the weekly sale to buy. The prices are extremely low at all times, sometimes as much as half. A good example is the Excalibur 1066 Merlins. These go for around $99 at our local store, $114 at Thompson Cigars... and only $60.25 here at RJ's. that's a major difference!
Need more incentive? Order a box of premium Cigars and get a $300 humidor for $99. It makes you wonder how much mark up there is on these things. I mean really, how can JR's be selling so cheap? Or is it that everyone else is just flat gouging the public?
..instead of paying $14.95 - $55.00 per pound to some sleazoid coffee merchant, you can now buy great whole bean Café Mayorga and Montecristo coffees from your pals right here at JR, for half the price!
You can either search the site for your particular brand, or browse the menu for weekly special, current deals, cigars, pipe tobacco, coffee, or accessories. JR's has a wish list too so you can easily hint for that coveted Father's Day present. You can browse the site and order, download the catalogue, or request a catalogue to be mailed to your home.
And now, enough of this cigar selling nonsense and on to Kilimanjaro!!
DO download and read thru the new catalogue. Lew (the owner) has a habit of getting off subject in the most delightful ways. See, he and his son climbed Kilimajaro, and he really, really likes to talk about it! The man is a crack up and has such a way of story telling. He should write a book..seriously.
Well, the Mayorga deal in this catalogue was going to involve Mayorga Coffee and humidors and a bunch of other stuff... but if I'm gonna tell you about my trip to Kilimanjaro... well, then there's just no space for complicated deals... So just take 10 bucks off the regular JR prices and let's get back to the story already!
There are some great deals in that online catalogue too.. Such as order a box of any Montecruz and get a free Dunhill Golf shirt. Now, we took a road trip to their main brick-n-mortar store in Burlington, NC. I saw those shirts. They are really good quality! We also sampled their coffees. Very good stuff! That store is unreal too... we dropped another $250 in there on top of what we already spent on the website..but I'll review it under destinations in a day or two... heh... and oh yes, in spite of the humor of that earlier quote involving the Mayorgas, they do, in fact, have the Mayorga Humidor for $99 with purchase of two boxes of the cigars.. Yep. We bought it!
Shipping is $2.00 per item charge for the first five items, $0.50 per item for all additional items in a single order. You can go with faster shipping for more, but why?
If you do go with the lowest shipping price, it will take a week to 10 days to arrive. Don't worry. They pack them moist because they know they may dry out during this time. We ordered hmmm 7 different boxes of different brands on different days. They have all now arrived and are in perfect condition. Every last one. Not a dried wrapper in the bunch!
As far as the on-line customer service.. one box, the Excaliburs (of course, Murphy's Law) took the longest to arrive, they were the first thing ordered. We called JR's and everyone was extremely helpful and nice. As it turns out, this was the fault of the Post Office. The order had shipped the next morning just fine. Gotta love the Postal Service. Eesh!
I like JR's because this place has serious personality. Yes they have the best prices around, but even if you don't order anything you will be greatly amused reading through the site. Go on, give it a go!
