Pros: Separate/inexpensive ink cartridges, fast black output, compact size, support.
Cons: Black ink quality.
The Bottom Line: Style is good, the performance is great, and the support can't be beat. Canon i550 all the way!

I chose to go with the Canon i550 as my office printer because it seemed to have the best bang for the buck.
The initial cost was average for it's class, but the cartridge costs were lower than other brands. What good is a printer that initially costs $50, but ends up costing $300 in cartridge replacements (Lexmark!!)
I liked the idea to have seperate ink cartridges for the black, magenta, cyan, and yellow colours. Another cost saving feature! I can say that the black cartridge lasts a very long time. Once the low-ink warning appeared, I was still able to print over 80 more pages!!! I don't know about the colour cartridges yet because they are still the originals.
The black print is super fast, but lacks quality. The speed is necessary in my office, but the quality doesn't make a difference to me.
The size of the printer is average, but there are features that reduce it's desktop space. The paper holder and output tray both extend/retrack to save space when needed.
The colour output is average, definitly not to be used as a photo printer, but it does a good job none-the-less. The printer supports borderless printing, and works great with many types of paper.
The i550 supports both USB and Parallel to accommodate all types of PC's. The included software does the job, but it was a bonus to receive a small package of photo paper to use with this printer.
Canon's support is great. They fixed and replaced (free of charge) my problem with the print head hassle-free. I have switched from being a HP user to a Canon user.
