Problems with backordered items, sizing, and missing items.

Delia's selection of clothing is excellent. I'm in my mid 20's and find some of their fashions pretty cute and have ordered from them twice in the past three years. Being that I have had previous good experiences with Delia's, I decided to order again.
1. Their sizing is off on pants. At Delia's I have to order one size up from what I normally wear. Since I already knew that, I ordered the right size and am satisfied with the pants I bought.
2. Their top sizes are off as well. I'm consistently a medium size top, and I bought several shirts. Each one fits entirely differently. Some are long, some are short, some are skin tight, some are baggy. All products showed the same length in inches on the website, so that's a little problematic.
3. I bought a belt, which they size as small, medium or large, and they give you the length of the belt in inches. I bought a belt which matched best with my hip size (widest part), and it is WAY too small unless I hike my pants up to my waist, and the jeans I usually wear are low riders. So I'll be returning that, and it wasn't really that great a product anyway, so I hope they refund my money for that.
4. I placed my order on 7/10/03 in the AM. One of the shirts I ordered was on backorder but the website said that it was expected to ship on 7/10/03. The item still hasn't shipped but at least my credit card wasn't charged. I'm just a little disappointed that there hasn't been a follow-through, like an email saying "Your item has been backordered again, so please expect your item to ship on mm/dd/yy." Today is 7/18/03 and I still haven't heard anything.
5. When my items arrived, I checked the packing slip with the contents of the box to make sure everything was there, and discovered I was missing a shirt, and it was on my order and I was charged for it. I called customer service, who did not see that item as being charged on my credit card, and they did not see it on the packing slip or the order as well. They showed 10 items, and I showed 11. They asked me to fax my packing slip in, and I did that two days ago, providing my contact information. There has been no follow through or email from them regarding that particular item. I'm a little angry about that, and also about the backordered item. I'll be calling them to follow up on that, even though I feel they should be following up with me.
6. The box was not taped properly, which caused the sides of the box to bow out a little, and that might cause some of the items to fall out of the box. Due to the fact that customer service did not see that one missing item on my order, I know that my missing item didn't fall out and was never shipped, but just make sure you count and re-count the items in your box.
In summary, their customer service department is courteous but not responsive/does not follow through, their backorder system is either incorrect or doesn't auto-update itself, and I most likely will visit their store in the mall rather than order from them online again. If their store in the mall had all the items that are in the catalog, it'd be great, but I've found their physical inventory to be lacking. I do like their prices, though.
***Update: 07/22/03***
After following up with Delia's, apparently my missing item was shipped out to me separately today -- when the initial package shipped, the item was on backorder but still showed up on my packing slip. No one from customer service called to notify me, and I didn't get a shipping confirmation, so I was frustrated with that.
My other backordered item was backordered again, so I cancelled that item, no problem. I've dealt with their backorders before so I already know that the item will continuously be backordered over and over again and I'd better just head to the mall and buy it there if I really want it.
One of my items was a mesh off the shoulder sweater, and I sent that back because it leaves lint on whatever I wear under it. Poor quality.
Additionally, I was supposed to receive a $50 gift certificate with my order. It came separately in the mail yesterday. The packing slip said "$50 gift certificate" but the certificate was for $25!!! I called customer service who was courteous and said for me to send it back so that they can mail a corrected one.
I think my online experience with them definitely will send me to the mall next time. At least I can use my gift certificate there :)
