| crfortin's Full Review: Samsung SyncMaster 213 T (Silver) 21.3" LCD Monito... |
I had been working with a 70lbs 21" Panasonic CRT monitor on my computer for about 4 years. My main criteria when going to LCD was native support for 1600x1200 resolution as I like having lots of screen real estate.
I bought this monitor the day it was available, being told the store had a 30 day return policy. I have not regretted my purchase for a moment.
The 21.3 inch Samsung is MUCH LARGER in viewing area than a 21 inch CRT. Even at 1600x1200 icons and print are large and clear ! No curvature of course and absolutely NO GLARE. There is no more annoying flicker and the screen is Bright and the colors are crisp and Spectacular. Everyone who has seen the monitor has commented how nice it is. With the screensaver or pictures on screen, it really looks like a printed poster/photograph and is Bright viewable, and clear in any light. Silver colored bezel is 1/2 an inch thin and very cool looking, and the stand supports the monitor firmly at just the right height. Easy to access controls are mounted along the bottom bezel. I could not believe monitor was set to 80% brightness it seemed so bright out of the box.
The display Supports a neat rotational feature for working with tall spreadsheets, but this feature does not seem to auto-detect. Cool ... Used it a couple of times, but havent bothered much since.
If you get this monitor you MUST buy a video card with DVI output. It has support for the old DB15RGB as well, but please do this monitor justice and get a card with DVI (cables are included).
The LCD response is also fast under 25MS for games and video. There is no Ghosting to be seen like on earlier generation LCDs. Viewing angle is great left and right, up and down.
This LCD monitor is better than the 50% more expensive SONT. Sony has put a very glossy (and kinda cool looking in an Apple way) 1 inch bezel around their current displays and thicker glossy clamshell case in back as they cant seem to get it down to the size/footprint of the Samsung.
