| youguyfriday's Full Review: General Reviews of Sprint Customer Service |
Finally I have a means of deterring others from purchasing a cell phone and placing a contract with Sprint! The television adds are catchy and humorous. However pay attention to the tone of the man in the dark overcoat. Or would it be pay no attention to the man in the dark overcoat? Honestly it is both. The first because you won't have any where near a pleasant conversation with customer service personell. The second because all the commercials are hype.
My troubles began when I initially tried to sign up for phone service only to find out that I had already been approved and was using a phone in Phoenix, AZ. I promptly informed the agent that I was glad to hear of the approval but I hadn't had the convenience of a cell phone and had not been in Arizona for over three years. To aid me in keeping from incurring any penalty I had to produce to the sales agent my drivers liscense, a credit card and my birth certificate. Apparently all of this information was given to Sprint customer service and they were going to disconect service from the believed fraudulent account and set me up with a phone all my own.
Problem solved with Sprint yes. A need to investigate some identity theft yes. However, when I recieved my first bill they charged me erroneously for the fraudulent phone they disconnected in order to provide me service in my local area. Not only that but they only disconected the phone and if I wanted to discontinue service for that phone I would incur a $150.00 penalty charge. Charges now totalling $210.00. I found this unacceptable and asked to speak with a supervisor who should be able to understand my situation.
Nope. The supervisor informed me that they were not actually with Sprint but were a company hired by Sprint to adjudicate billing. If I wanted to dispute the fraudulent plan I would have to submit a fraud packet to them as provided by Sprint and then they would remove the charges.
Call Sprint. Pay $5.25 to speak to a CSR with no luck. I am informed they have no such Fraud Packet and that I will have to file a police report in order for the charges to be removed.
So I contact the Phoenix PD dept and file a police report who in turn says that they wont contact Sprint, Sprint must contact them. So I contact Sprint and pay another $5.25 to resolve the same situation but this time they say they will waive the fee. However I am informed that it is not Sprint's policy to contact the PD regarding fraud cases and I needed to fill out a Fraud Packet and that they would send one out to me. I wait two weeks for the fictitious Fraud Packet. It doesn't come. I contact customer service by mail who tells me once again that the fraud packet does not exist. I decide to cancel my plan all together and they tell me it will be $150.00 per phone as well as a $60.00 disconnect fee for each phone. So now the total charges would be $420.00. I opt at this time to cancel the fraudulent phone as to not incur any further monthly charges and am able to get them to waive the contract cancellation fee as I am still technically maintaining one contract with them. Bottom line I am stuck with this phone service I don't want for one year because the company has no viable way to protect those who are frauded. Steer away from this company and all its hidden fees and bloated promised.
